Real Madrid are 'incredibly excited' about Vinicius Jr, who is 'hungry for redemption' after spending an international break with the club for the first time since October 2020.

The Brazil international was omitted from Carlo Ancelotti's latest squad due to being suspended for his country's World Cup qualifier against Chile last week. Rather than calling him up for just one game, the decision was made to let him stay at Real Madrid.

As AS points out, this was an 'extraordinary event' because the last time the superstar winger was not part of a Brazil squad was all the way back in October 2020.

Vinicius hasn't been the same since he was infamously snubbed for the 2024 Ballon d'Or, which went to Man City midfielder Rodri instead. However, he scored in back-to-back games ahead of the recent break, and he now looks ready to explode.

After spending two weeks training with Real Madrid, Vinicius is at '200 per cent,' according to the Spanish outlet. The 25-year-old is refreshed and 'hungry for redemption.'

Vinicius to tear up LaLiga?

"The club is incredibly excited about Vinicius," the report states. "He has worked tirelessly these past two weeks and looks mentally refreshed. More organised; hungry for redemption."

The Brazilian is 'throwing down the gauntlet' and is about to 'become extraordinary again,' it is claimed. The timing of this couldn't have been better: the Champions League kicks off next week, and the Ballon d'Or ceremony will take place later this month.

Real Madrid are once again planning to boycott the Ballon d'Or as Vinicius stands no chance of winning the prestigious award, with Raphinha, Lamine Yamal and Ousmane Dembele among the favourites this year.

However, Vinicius can show that he means business for 2026. Real Madrid have won all three of their matches so far this season and will look to continue their good form at Real Sociedad on Saturday.

On Tuesday, they will start their Champions League campaign against Marseille. Vinicius is poised to reclaim his superstar status, and the rest afforded him over the past two weeks could be a game-changer.
