Real Madrid's interest in Alphonso Davies appears to be cooling, according to Spanish media.

The Canadian left-back has been a long-standing target for Los Blancos. Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Real Madrid have been working on a potential deal for Davies behind the scenes since at least October 2023, but nothing concrete has thus far materialised.

It has been said that this is due to the fact that the 23-year-old has not yet made a decision on Bayern Munich's final contract offer, which has been on the table for some time. Davies and his camp were unhappy about the fact that the Munich giants had given him an ultimatum, but new developments on that front have been few and far between.

Davies' current deal is up in 2025, which means that Bayern will try to offload him this summer if he doesn't agree fresh terms. Real Madrid are prepared to pay €50 million for him but not more. With the player open to joining, the LaLiga giants are prepared to play the long game and wait another year if they have to.

Real Madrid's new priority

Indeed, it increasingly looks as though Real will not make a move for the Canadian this year. At least that's according to Relevo, which claims that Los Blancos' new priority for the summer window is adding a centre-back.

This comes after the news that captain Nacho Fernandez will leave this summer after more than 20 years at the club. Due to Carlo Ancelotti being very happy with Ferland Mendy's performances at left-back this season, it is claimed that Real Madrid have shifted their focus on the centre-back market.

Lille wonderkid Leny Yoro is their top target, but he also has Premier League suitors. If Real were to manage to snap up the 18-year-old prodigy, they would wait until next year to pursue Davies, with the club confident that he won't extend his Bayern deal.
