Kylian Mbappe provoked uproar at Real Madrid in May when he controversially decided to turn down an offer from the Bernabeu side to instead remain at PSG.

Mbappe had spent the previous 12 months flirting with the Spanish club but ultimately elected to sign a contract with PSG that initially runs until 2024. While the World Cup winner’s camp believes they have the unilateral right to decide if the player takes up an optional year, FootballTransfers revealed that the club are bullish the forward is theirs until 2025.

This threatens to be an issue as Mbappe has now decided that he wants to leave PSG, just five months after signing his extension with the club.

Manchester City and Liverpool are among the candidates to sign the attacker, but FootballTransfers understands that Chelsea and Manchester United are also interested in him. Meanwhile, reports in France suggest that Real Madrid retain an interest in Mbappe.

Florentino Perez right about Mbappe

Regardless of whether Los Blancos elect to move again for the player, president Florentino Perez has been proven spectacularly correct about a prediction he made shortly after Mbappe announced that he would not be moving to Real Madrid.

Back in June, he was caught on camera with a fan who pleaded with him: “Florentino, don’t sign Mbappe now.”

The Real Madrid president responded simply: “Poor man, he will already be sorry.”

Perhaps Mbappe was not regretful at the stage that Perez made his comment, but following a failed transfer window in the player’s eyes, it is clear that he is not happy at PSG at present. Indeed, he believes that the Ligue 1 champions have broken a string of promises that they made to him when he signed his new deal.

Despite Mbappe’s apparent unhappiness away from the pitch, he continues to be prolific for PSG on it and has scored at the rate of a goal per game this season.
