Real Madrid receive €230m Vinicius Jr offer
An unnamed club in Saudi Arabia has reportedly submitted a €230 million proposal for Real Madrid superstar Vinicius Junior amid rumours he could leave in 2026.
The Brazil international has just 18 months remaining on his current contract at the Bernabeu and he has been heavily linked with a departure to the Saudi Pro League over the past year.
Vinicius has been earmarked as a priority transfer target by officials in the Middle East and they are pushing to finalise a deal for his signature at some point over the next few seasons.
The 25-year-old is still yet to agree contract extension terms with Real Madrid, although negotiations over a fresh deal are reportedly expected to take place shortly following the departure of Xabi Alonso.
Vinicius endured a fractious relationship with the former Los Blancos head coach and he was unwilling to sign extended terms with the Spanish giants as a result. However, rumours have speculated that he is now open to penning a new deal at the Bernabeu following the appointment of Alvaro Arbeloa.
However, as exclusively reported by The Transfers Podcast last year, Real Madrid have no intention of matching Vinicius’ current wage demands, which is a key factor behind claims he could move to Saudi Arabia in 2026.
Vinicius Jr bid rejected
Although Vinicius will be out of contract in 2027, Real Madrid have decided against sanctioning a sale during the January transfer window, despite receiving a world record offer from a club in the Saudi Pro League.
That is according to transfer insider IndyKaila, who posted on X: “Real Madrid have informed Saudi clubs that Vinicius Junior is not for sale in the January transfer window.
“We understand that a certain Saudi club contacted Madrid over the weekend with a £200m (€230m) proposal.”
Neymar remains the most expensive player in football history courtesy of his €222m move from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain in 2017, but clubs in Saudi Arabia appear willing to help Vinicius Jr usurp his compatriot this year.
However, Real Madrid are currently reluctant to lose the Brazil star, who has registered 14 goal contributions in 29 matches across all competitions so far this campaign.
