Real Madrid reportedly remain in contact with Erling Haaland’s representatives as they look to finalise a record-breaking deal for the Manchester City striker.

Haaland, 25, has been earmarked as Los Blancos’ dream signing for 2026, although they face an uphill battle to secure his signature due to his current contract situation with Pep Guardiola’s side.

The Norwegian still has eight-and-a-half years remaining on his existing deal at the Etihad Stadium, following his decision to sign lucrative fresh terms last January, and the eight-time Premier League champions have no intention of sanctioning a sale.

Haaland has scored a whopping 150 goals in 175 appearances since his arrival at Man City in 2022, including 26 in 29 games so far this season, and Real Madrid have earmarked him as a “dream” target.

That is according to Sky Sports Germany, who claim that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez remains in contact with Rafaela Pimenta, Haaland’s agent.

It’s reported that Haaland still dreams of completing a move to Real Madrid in the future, however the Spanish giants will be required to sell Vinicius Junior and potentially pay a transfer fee in excess of €500 million to tempt Man City into a sale.

Real Madrid want Jurgen Klopp

In addition to Haaland, Real Madrid are also “dreaming” of appointing Jurgen Klopp as their new permanent head coach this summer, as per Sky Germany.

Alvaro Arbeloa has been hired as the club’s replacement for Xabi Alonso, but he lost his first game in charge to second tier side Albacete in the Copa del Rey on Wednesday and Los Blancos have already sounded out a shortlist of possible new managers.

Ex-Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca and club legend Zinedine Zidane both feature prominently in Real Madrid’s thinking, but Klopp is reportedly their top target. However, the former Liverpool manager is currently still focused on his role as Head of Global Soccer for the Red Bull Group and is yet to engage in talks over a move to the Bernabeu.
