Vinicius Junior’s future at Real Madrid is more uncertain than ever, insider Guillem Balague has warned the Spanish club.

The Brazil international attacker has spent months in contract negotiations with the Bernabeu side with no sign that the impasse will be broken in the near future.

He now has little over 18 months left on his deal, with Los Blancos likely to sell the 25-year-old superstar if he has not agreed new terms by the summer.

Away from the negotiating table, Vini has found his status in Madrid questioned by new head coach Xabi Alonso, who has favoured making Kylian Mbappe the key attacker of his team.

Despite this, the former Flamengo wonderkid has made his best start ever to a season since he arrived at Real Madrid with five goals scored and four assists delivered in 10 games. But all is not well.

What's happening with Vini Jr?

“Behind the scenes, the Brazilian's Real Madrid future has never been more uncertain as talks to extend his contract beyond 2027 continue to stall,” Balague explained to BBC Sport.

“It coincided with the arrival of Xabi Alonso, but it has more to do with the player and his advisers holding fire until they understand his role in the team - now that Mbappe is the boss - and considering that Xabi has promised Rodrygo to play him on the left, a battle Vini Jr has won for now.

“Inside Valdebebas, the club's training HQ, few doubt his quality. But Alonso's reshaping of Madrid - his rotations, his emphasis on tactical structure - has made Vinicius one of several options on the left, no longer the guaranteed starter he was under Carlo Ancelotti. Vinicius wants to see how that develops.

“The club feels a decision must be made by the summer, including the possibility of parting ways if the player does not sign a new deal.”

If Vini Jr does not sign a new Real Madrid deal, a move to the Saudi Arabia looks his most probable destination, with Pro League clubs having regularly been linked with a move for the attacker.

With an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €102 million (£88.49m), it will take a monster bid to take him away from the Bernabeu.
