On Saturday, the Germany international collapsed during a friendly against RB Leipzig, yet he was deemed fit enough to play just a few days later as Bayern defeated Heidenheim 4-2 in another pre-season fixture. It happened again, and although he was escorted off the pitch on his feet, major concerns were raised about his health.

With many frightened fans in attendance and with many watching clips on social media, Musiala sought to explain the situation.

"I've been diagnosed with temporary, brief, but easily treatable absence seizures, which are due to a neurological dysfunction," he explained on Instagram.

"These can lead to the recent episodes, like the one against Leipzig or now in Heidenheim. I know they seem scary at first glance - but for me, they're currently just part of my everyday life.

"I'm receiving excellent medical treatment and am very optimistic. FC Bayern and my family and friends are always by my side and supporting me on this journey."

Following the game on Tuesday, Bayern sporting director Max Eberl said Musiala would explain the situation himself, which he eventually did.

"We knew about it and we are aware of the situation," he revealed.

"Jamal will speak out. He's in the dressing room, getting changed and taking a shower."

German press outlet DPA has since spoken to Bayern sources, who confirmed that there is currently no indication that Musiala’s career is at risk following his diagnosis.

Musiala has been a key part of Bayern Munich’s first team since breaking through as a teenager in 2020. His ability to carry the ball, create chances and score goals has quickly made him one of the club’s most important attacking players.

He has already won several Bundesliga titles with Bayern and played a huge role in their 2022-23 triumph, scoring the late winner that sealed the title. Still only 23, Musiala has established himself as one of the faces of Bayern’s next generation and a major player for Germany.

The forward missed the first six months of last season after breaking his ankle at the 2025 Club World Cup, but returned in the second half of the campaign and was later named in the Germany squad for the 2026 World Cup, where he started three games.
