Messi’s former Barcelona teammates Jordi Alba and Luis Suarez have been associated with a move to Inter Miami, but according to Argentine journalist Cesar Luis Merlo and confirmed by Fabrizio Romano, it is one of his former international colleagues that could be next to make the move across the Atlantic.

Romano reports that Angel Di Maria, who has already announced his departure from Juventus at the end of the month when his contract expires, is being targeted by Beckham’s side.

“Inter Miami are considering a move for Angel Di Maria as free agent,” Romano tweeted on the former Real Madrid, Manchester United and PSG star, who was a colleague of Messi as Argentine won the 2022 World Cup. “I understand they are informed on the conditions of the deal.

“Europe remains his priority and Benfica are on him.”

Messi on Busquets to Inter Miami

Sergio Busquets, meanwhile, is another player close to making the move across to the MLS franchise, with Romano confirming Miami’s ongoing interest in the 2010 World Cup winner.

Messi has been tight-lipped on the prospect of Busquets joining him at Inter Miami.

When asked about his former Barcelona teammate by Mundo Deportivo in the interview he revealed his MLS transfer, the 35-year-old replied: “This is something that was claimed – that I was going with Busi and Jordi Alba to Saudi Arabia, that everything was arranged.

“We never agreed to go anywhere together. I made my decision for myself and I don't know what they are going to do.”
