Barcelona captain Sergio Busquets is set to leave the club at the end of the upcoming season and he could line up with Lionel Messi at David Beckham’s Inter Miami.

Busquets is entering the final year of his contract and has already reportedly set his sights on playing in MLS with Inter Miami when his deal expires.

And with Messi’s contract at Paris Saint-Germain also set to expire in 2023, Busquets is believed to be keen on reuniting with his former Barca teammate in Miami.

Barcelona are believed to be planning for next season to be Busquets’ final year at the club although it is less clear what Messi plans to do when his contract with PSG expires.

Will Busquets and Messi be taking their talents to South Beach?

Beckham’s Inter Miami are one of the newest teams in MLS and have already been linked with other ex-Barcelona players such as Luis Suarez and Jordi Alba.

Miami already have a strong Latin presence at the club, with Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuain listed as one of their ‘designated players’, allowing his wages to count outside the league’s salary cap.

The side – managed by Phil Neville – have yet to fill the other two DP spots in their squad, meaning Messi and Busquets would have no issues joining should the positions still be available next summer.

Busquets has made nearly 700 appearances for Barca in all competitions since breaking into their first team in 2008, winning 30 trophies during that time.

With the 33-year-old still keen on featuring for Spain in the upcoming World Cup, he has rejected any interest of moving this summer and is keen to see out his contract.

Messi, meanwhile, has always spoken about returning closer to his native Argentina towards the end of his career but he may choose to prolong his career in Europe until then.

However, Miami would be considered frontrunners for Messi should he decide to leave PSG and wind down his career in the Americas.

Many MLS sides have already registered their interest in both Busquets and Messi but Inter are thought to be leading the chase.
