Man Utd make first official Carlos Baleba bid
Manchester United are set to table their first official bid for Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba.
Nicolo Schira reports that Man Utd will send Brighton their first offer for the Cameroonian star in the coming hours.
Schira says that Baleba already has an agreement in principle with United from the player side and has accepted a contract until 2030 with the option for a further year until 2031.
United are ready to push hard to sign Baleba in these last 20 days of the summer transfer window.
Baleba to Man Utd
David Ornstein first revealed last week that United had initiated contact with Brighton for their star midfielder.
This was soon confirmed by Fabrizio Romano and it has now become clear that United really want Baleba.
The deal will not be easy as Brighton are reluctant to sell their prized asset after losing Joao Pedro to Chelsea earlier this summer.
There have been reports that it would cost Man Utd over €100 million to sign Baleba, who would become the most expensive African player of all time.
The Red Devils are looking to have a blockbuster end to the transfer window, having also confirmed the €85 million signing of Benjamin Sesko from Leipzig on Saturday.
Despite the fact that almost €250m has been spent without meaningful outgoings, Man Utd still plan to make more signings.
One area Ruben Amorim has been keen to strengthen ever since he arrived at Old Trafford is the midfield. The Portuguese wants more dynamism and energy in his engine room, and Man Utd are now seeking out potential options.
Signed as a replacement for Moises Caicedo after his move to Chelsea in 2023, Baleba has proved a worthy successor, and this hasn't gone unnoticed, with the Cameroon international regularly linked with bigger clubs.
Baleba has made 77 appearances for Brighton, scoring four goals.
He was named Brighton's Young Player of the Season last season.
He has been capped seven times by Cameroon.
