‘Last details’ - Chelsea to sign Xavi Simons IMMINENTLY
Chelsea are at the final stages in negotiations to sign Xavi Simons from Leipzig.
Nicolo Schira reports early on Wednesday morning that the last details of the transfer are being discussed with an agreement now imminent.
It has been reported elsewhere that the transfer will cost Chelsea in the region of €60-70 million.
Schira reports that Simons has already agreed personal terms on a long term contract and that Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca played a key role in the deal.
Simons to Chelsea
The Blues are ready to seal an eye-catching double swoop for Netherlands internationals Jorrel Hato of Ajax and Leipzig forward Simons.
A deal for the former is also expected to be officially completed in the coming hours and days.
Simons had interest from the likes of Bayern Munich and Arsenal but prioritised a move to West London.
Leipzig decided earlier this summer to sell their star man, and Chelsea appear to have won the race for his signing.
Leipzig paid a fixed €50 million to sign Simons permanently from PSG in January and will now make a profit as the added bonuses will not be reached.
The Blues may grant Leipzig a percentage of his future fee in exchange for a smaller payment.
Chelsea are ultimately relaxed about the finances involved as they feel they are still fully compliant with Profitability and Sustainability Rules.
