Chelsea face an important summer in the transfer market as they look to bounce back from two poor domestic campaigns.

Although Todd Boehly has overseen a spend of more than €1 billion on new players since arriving at the club in 2022, there has been no success to show for it, with the Stamford Bridge outfit finishing 12th last season and on course for another disappointing finish this time around.

Mauricio Pochettino arrived at the club last summer with the hope of turning their fortunes around, but another mid-table finish is on the cards for the richly assembled squad – and supporters are not happy.

Pochettino may even be sacked before the 2024-25 campaign starts, with his future coming under severe threat following a 5-0 loss to London rivals Arsenal. However, a 2-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur and a 5-0 win over West Ham has eased concerns over sack rumours.

Chelsea continue to target a raft of promising young players, but with the squad currently not delivering on the field, might they turn their attentions to more established stars going forward?

Napoli striker Victor Osimhen headlines Chelsea’s summer transfer targets, but the Blues are also looking at alternatives, and many other deals could well be completed in a bid to get their squad into shape.

In addition, they are also looking to sign a new centre-back following the confirmation that Thiago Silva will be leaving, while they are also desperate to sign Palmeiras wonderkid Estevao.

Our Chelsea transfer live blog brings you all the latest news surrounding the Blues, including exclusives from our own reporters as well as checking out what the other big names are saying (including the likes of Fabrizio Romano and David Ornstein).

The Blues are expected to be many moves this summer with players coming and going, and the Stamford Bridge rumour mill is already in full swing.

Chelsea linked with Summerville

Fabrizio Romano has linked Chelsea to Leeds star Crysencio Summerville.

“They [Chelsea] are one of the names being linked with Leeds United’s talented young winger Crysencio Summerville," the journalist explained to Caught Offside.

"The race is open, but with nothing close or imminent right now. There are really many clubs tracking him – I already reported about Liverpool last month, and for sure, Summerville is expected to get a top club chance in the summer, but again, nothing is close now.”

Man Utd set to rival Chelsea and Arsenal for Osimhen

Man Utd have entered the race to sign Victor Osimhen from Napoli.

The star Serie A forward will likely leave Naples this summer and has a release clause of €130 million.

Chelsea, Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain have all been credited with an interest previously, but Il Corriere dello Sport now reports that the Red Devils are keen on bringing Osimhen to Old Trafford.

Joe Cole: Gallagher must stay at Chelsea

Joe Cole believes Chelsea must do all they can to keep Conor Gallagher.

The midfielder is one of the club captains at Stamford Bridge but has been linked with a move away due to FFP issues.

“Conor Gallagher can’t leave. I know there are issues financially but Conor Gallagher has been brilliant, from start to finish,” the pundit said.

“Everyone has turned up in the last few weeks but Conor, you see a great player when he is playing in a struggling team. Conor was still there, captain as well. I think it is imperative that the club keeps him."

Chelsea urged to follow Leverkusen blueprint

Joe Cole reckons Chelsea should follow Leverkusen's blueprint and bring in more experienced heads this summer.

The German side are on the cusp of a historic treble and last year brought in Granit Xhaka and Jonas Hoffman to provide some experience in the squad - something which Cole believes Chelsea are lacking.

“What is very important is the recruitment in the summer. You need experience, I wouldn’t say anywhere in particular,” he said.

“I don’t think the club need to add any more young players, they need experience. Very similar to what Bayer Leverkusen have done. They brought in Jonas Hofmann and another senior player (Xhaka), you can’t put a value on that.

“I think if I was advising the club, it would be two or three players in. Experienced players who know how to win games, good characters, set the tone in the dressing room.”

Poch set for performance review?

As far as Mauricio Pochettino is aware, he will not sit down with Chelsea owner Todd Boehly for a performance review this week.

There were rumours that the Argentine had been summoned to speak with Boehly about his future, but Pochettino revealed that the pair met recently.

"I don't know if that is going to happen or not. I don't have any idea about this. All I can tell you is on Friday night, Todd invited me for a dinner and it was a very nice dinner together," he told reporters.

"But I don't know about the rumours about the review. My staff tomorrow are flying for their holidays. I am going to stay in London for a few more days. I am always open. My phone is going to be on."

Two Turkish options for Mourinho

Former Man Utd and Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is wanted by both Besiktas and Fenerbahce.

The Portuguese head coach is currently without a club after being fired by Roma earlier in the campaign, but could make a return to management this summer in the Turkish top flight.

So far, Mourinho has managed in Portugal, England, Italy and Spain. (GOAL)

Surprise Poch replacement emerges

There is no evidence to suggest that Chelsea are planning on sacking Mauricio Pochettino anytime soon.

But, should they do so, there is a surprise candidate emerging as a potential replacement and that is Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna.

McKenna has done a marvelous job at Ipswich and guided the club to promotion to the Premier League after finishing second in the Championship. (Guardian)
