Arsenal-linked Nicolo Tresoldi dreams of playing for AC Milan in the future, according to the Club Brugge striker’s father Emanuele.

Tresoldi enhanced his burgeoning reputation with a stunning hat-trick in Brugge’s thrilling 4-3 win over Inter Milan in the Champions League on Tuesday.

The 22-year-old has now scored nine goals in just 11 games in all competitions this season, including four in Europe’s elite club competition.

Tresoldi had already announced himself to the world after netting 23 times in 58 games for Belgian Pro League champions Brugge last season.

The Germany Under-21 international continues to be loosely linked with Arsenal and Barcelona, with both clubs reportedly keen on strengthening their attacks.

Arsenal and Barcelona were both interested in signing Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez in the summer but neither team were able to strike a deal.

However, Emanuele Tresoldi - the former Atalanta defender and father of Nicolo - has revealed his son harbours the ambition of playing for AC Milan.

In quotes carried by Gazzetta dello Sport, Emanuele says Nicolo’s love for Milan is so strong that he is also unlikely to play for their fierce rivals Inter.

Asked if he could see his son playing in Serie A one day, Emanuele said: "He might. His dream is to wear the (AC) Milan jersey.”

Milan broke their transfer record to sign striker Goncalo Ramos from Paris Saint-Germain for €74million (£62.5m) in the summer.

However, while Ramos sparkled for Portugal during the international break, scoring three goals, he has only found the back of the net once for Milan so far.

Arsenal pursued big-name signing in the summer

Arsenal meanwhile were looking to capitalise on their Premier League title win last season by making a marquee signing in the summer.

The Gunners pursued ambitious deals for Atletico star Alvarez and Real Madrid winger Vinicius Junior but missed out on both players.

Barcelona, on the other hand, signed forward Gabriel Jesus from Arsenal in a cut-price deal after failing to extract Alvarez from Atletico.

The La Liga champions have also used Raphinha as a number nine this season, with the Brazil superstar scoring an incredible 14 goals in eight games so far.
