Tchouameni deal off for good

Man Utd's hopes of signing Aurelien Tchouameni are officially dead and buried following Real Madrid's decision to exit the race to sign Man City star Rodri.

Los Blancos were determined to bring in the Spain star, which likely would have necessitated a major sale in midfield. Man Utd were attentive to the situation as Tchouameni is considered a dream target.

However, Barcelona have strongly entered the race for Rodri, and the player has greenlit a move to the LaLiga champions. As a result, Real Madrid are no longer interested, which in turn means that Tchouameni is going nowhere.

Carrick wants Premier League experience

Michael Carrick is unconvinced by AS Roma midfielder Manu Kone, according to Ben Jacobs.

The France international has long been mooted as Man Utd's potential third midfield signing this summer, but the club hierarchy is split on whether a deal is worth pursuing. Carrick, in particular, would prefer a player with Premier League experience.

"I think Kone would depend on whether or not, in particular, Jason Wilcox is sold because, from my understanding, Christopher Vivell was one of the names that put the target forward," Jacobs said.

"Michael Carrick would still perhaps prefer another name that he feels has proven Premier League experience or, at the other extreme, is a kind of Tchouameni-type player."

Clear Hall message

Newcastle continue to insist that Lewis Hall is not for sale this summer, Fabrizio Romano reports.

The England left-back is understood to be a top target for Man Utd, who are in the market for a long-term successor to Luke Shaw. However, Newcastle have no intention of losing Hall and, in fact, want to sign another left-back themselves.

"Newcastle are determined to keep Hall," Romano explained. "Only an extraordinary offer could change their position, so we'll continue to monitor the situation over the coming days."

Thiago not for sale

Brentford are not entertaining the thought of losing star striker Igor Thiago this summer, TEAMtalk writes.

The outlet claims that Chelsea, Man Utd and Tottenham have all made their interest in the Brazil international known following his breakout season in the Premier League last term. However, Brentford do not wish to sell.

In fact, "there are no circumstances under which the club would currently entertain offers," the report asserts. Man Utd will have to seek out a different replacement for Joshua Zirkzee.
