The England international, who made one appearance for his country at this summer’s World Cup, has been in talks over a move to Como for several weeks and the deal has now been finalised.

That is according to Romano, who posted on X: “Como reach verbal agreement to sign Trevoh Chalobah from Chelsea, here we go!

“Club to club agreement in place at €30m fixed fee, €6m add-ons and sell-on clause for the English centre back. Chalobah wanted Italy + ready for UCL football.”

Inter Milan were also interested in signing Chalobah this summer, however they were unwilling to match Chelsea’s demands and they instead opted to sign John Stones on a Bosman deal following the expiration of his contract at Manchester City.

Chalobah made 47 appearances across all competitions last season, scoring three goals, but Chelsea have agreed to sanction a permanent sale following Levi Colwill’s return to full fitness and the signing of Maxence Lacroix from Crystal Palace.

Meanwhile, Benoit Badiashile is on the verge of completing a loan move to Napoli and Crystal Palace have lodged their first bid for Axel Disasi as Chelsea look to reduce their playing squad ahead of Xabi Alonso’s debut campaign in charge.

Chalobah will become Como's sixth signing of the summer window when the deal is officially completed, while he will be the fifth player to depart Chelsea for a transfer fee this summer, following Andrey Santos, Marc Cucurella, Tyrique George and Jimmy-Jay Morgan.

The England defender joined Chelsea at just eight years old and after progressing through the academy ranks, he will depart the club having made a total of 151 first-team appearances for the Blues.

In regards to incomings, Chelsea have spent just shy of €400 million on the signings of Morgan Rogers, Maxence Lacroix, Marco Palestra, Geovany Quenda, Valentin Barco, Emmanuel Emegha, Denner, Danny Welbeck and Dastan Satpaev so far this summer. Meanwhile, Jordan Henderson is set to arrive from Brentford on a free transfer.
