Arsenal Transfer News Today: Vinicius Jr 'promise' as agreement close
FootballTransfers runs through the latest Arsenal transfer news, rumours and gossip, including updates on Vinicius Junior and Igor Tyjon.
Vinicius Jr promise
Mikel Arteta is ‘taking charge’ of Arsenal’s chase of Vinicius Junior and has already made the Real Madrid star a huge promise to entice him to sign for the Premier League champions.
Vinicius has just one year remaining on his current Los Blancos contract and Arsenal are ready to step in and complete a historic transfer for the Brazil star, with FootballTransfers having revealed that they are willing to go all-in financially to make the move happen.
Arteta’s willingness to integrate Vinicius Jr into the Arsenal squad has been underlined by reports in AS, which have sent a warning to Real Madrid that the manager has promised the 26-year-old that the team will “revolve around him”.
The Arsenal boss has sent a message to Vini that underlines how central he will be to the plans at the Emirates. This is an appealing message to the winger, who has grown frustrated at playing second fiddle to Kylian Mbappe at Real Madrid.
Igor Tyjon deal close
Arsenal are closing in on a deal for Blackburn Rovers striker Igor Tyjon, according to Alan Nixon.
The England U18 international has been linked with a move to Arsenal for several months and it’s reported that a deal is now on the verge of being finalised, with Arteta’s side keen to reach an agreement on a £2 million fee.
Blackburn are preparing for Tyjon’s departure and he is expected to be announced as an Arsenal player before the end of the summer window.
Bruno Guimaraes bid rejected
Newcastle United have rejected Arsenal’s first official offer for Bruno Guimaraes, according to The i Paper.
The Brazil midfielder has been widely tipped to secure a move to the Emirates Stadium before the end of Deadline Day, but Arsenal’s first bid reportedly fell “significantly short” of Newcastle’s €93m (£80m) asking price.
Despite this, Arsenal remain eager to finalise a deal and they are now preparing to submit a second bid, as per a report from TEAMtalk.
It’s understood that Guimaraes is keen to join Arsenal this summer, but he will not go on strike like Alexander Isak did last summer.
Victor Osimhen offer
Arsenal have failed with a player-plus-cash swap deal bid for Galatasaray forward Victor Osimhen, as per a shock report from Nigerian outlet PUNCH Sports Extra.
It’s claimed that an offer involving Viktor Gyokeres and €30m has been turned down by Galatasaray, with Arsenal officials recently travelling to Istanbul in a bid to finalise an agreement.
However, Galatasaray value Osimhen at a minimum of €130m amid reported interest from Tottenham Hotspur.
Axel Donczew fee
Arsenal are set to pay roughly £500,000 for Cardiff City youngster Axel Donczew after agreeing a deal to sign the 16-year-old.
That is according to Football Insider, who report that Cardiff were keen to avoid a tribunal payment after finalising a deal with Arsenal.
Donczew is understood to have already successfully completed his medical with the north London giants and his move to Arsenal is set to be formally announced shortly.
