Arsenal have reached a verbal agreement to sell Gabriel Martinelli to Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Hilal for a fee that could reach €65 million if add-ons are met.

The Brazil winger has been heavily linked with an Emirates Stadium exit throughout the summer transfer window, following the signing of Christos Tzolis, and a deal has now been finalised for him to depart the club.

Martinelli joined Arsenal from Brazilian minnows Ituano for a measly fee of just €7.1m in 2019 and he has been a regular for the club ever since his arrival, netting 62 goals in 278 appearances across all competitions.

However, he was consistently used as a substitute by Mikel Arteta last season and despite their failure to sign Vinicius Junior earlier this summer, Arsenal have now permitted a sale following a lucrative proposal from Al-Hilal.

The Saudi Arabian outfit have also struck a deal to sign Aston Villa star Ollie Watkins as their new striker, while they added Crysencio Summerville to their attack back in July.

Martinelli will be formally announced as an Al-Hilal player shortly, with the Brazilian set to be omitted from Arsenal’s matchday squad for their second fixture of the new Premier League season against Aston Villa on Monday night.

His imminent move to Saudi Arabia has been confirmed by football transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano, who posted on X: “BREAKING: Gabriel Martinelli to Al Hilal, here we go! Verbal agreement done for fee over €65m add-ons included.

“Martinelli will sign a long term deal as he just had authorization to travel in 24h. Watkins + Martinelli, plan confirmed. Deal agreed.”

Arsenal sales confirmed

In addition to Martinelli, Arsenal have also agreed a deal to sell Gabriel Jesus to Barcelona, while they are in advanced talks to offload Fabio Vieira to Hamburg on a permanent transfer following a loan spell at the club last year.

Both players are set to leave the Emirates Stadium for a fee of €10m, with the Gunners eager to trim down their first-team squad following a busy summer of incomings, including Bruno Guimaraes and Ezri Konsa.

Ethan Nwaneri may also leave Arsenal before the end of Deadline Day, amid interest from several clubs across Europe, although it has been reported that he is eager to stay at the club, despite the fact he has fallen down the pecking order in north London.
