Man Utd on the verge of €103m triple signing
Manchester United are on the verge of finalising the arrivals of Andrey Santos, Ederson and Karl Darlow as their first three signings of the summer transfer window.
The Red Devils have been relatively quiet during the early weeks of the window, but they are set for a flurry of activity this weekend as they prepare to add three new signings to Michael Carrick’s squad ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.
Santos is set to arrive from Chelsea for €58 million (£50m), while his compatriot Ederson will also bolster Man Utd’s midfield roster after a €45m deal was struck with Atalanta. Both players will initially join the club for a slightly lower fee, with possible add-ons taking Man Utd’s combined outlay on the Brazilian pair to roughly €103m.
Darlow, on the other hand, will join the club on a free transfer from Leeds United and his imminent move is likely to signal the end of Altay Bayindir’s career at Old Trafford, with a sale expected to be agreed shortly. Darlow made 24 appearances for Leeds last season and he is set to become Senne Lammens’ understudy next year.
Santos and Darlow have both successfully completed their medicals at Man Utd’s Carrington training facility, while the club are in the process of conducting a detailed medical assessment of Ederson before finalising his move.
All three players are expected to be formally announced as Man Utd players shortly, with Santos and Darlow both likely to be confirmed within the next 24 hours.
Who else will Man Utd sign and who will they sell?
Man Utd want to sign a third new central midfielder after the arrivals of Santos and Ederson are confirmed, with the likes of Manu Kone, Alex Scott and Carlos Baleba all linked with a summer move to Old Trafford.
Signing a new left-back is also on the agenda, with Lewis Hall their top target, while a new left winger may be targeted too despite Patrick Dorgu’s form after being pushed into a more advanced role under Carrick.
In regards to sales, Man Utd have already finalised the permanent departure of Rasmus Hojlund to Napoli for €44m, while Jadon Sancho, Casemiro and Tyrell Malacia have all left the club on Bosman deals upon the expiration of their contract.
Carrick currently has a small squad at his disposal, and there aren’t many other players expected to depart the club before Deadline Day on 1 September.
Joshua Zirkzee has been heavily linked with an exit in recent months and could be set for a summer transfer, but he may be the only big-name star to secure a move away, with Manuel Ugarte set to stay at the club after suffering a serious knee injury at the World Cup.
As mentioned, Bayindir may also be sold following the signing of Darlow.
