Celtic receive Ange Postecoglou transfer warning
Celtic have been sent a worrying message over Callum McGregor's future amid reported interest from former manager Ange Postecoglou and his new club Al-Nassr.
The 33-year-old has been the subject of transfer speculation for months, and he recently fuelled the rumours by switching representatives. McGregor's affairs are now being handled by Unique Sports Group, who also represent Brendan Rodgers.
The former Hoops boss is currently in charge of Al-Qadsiah and has supposedly been trying to engineer a transfer for his ex-captain since January. However, the rumours linking McGregor with the Aramco-backed side have gone quiet in recent weeks.
Instead, he is now being linked with another former Celtic manager: Ange Postecoglou. The Australian has surprisingly taken the reins at Cristiano Ronaldo's Al-Nassr after being associated with all manner of possible jobs, including the Kazakhstan national team.
The Riyadh side are the reigning Saudi Pro League champions and are looking to win their first continental trophy since 1998 in the AFC Champions League Elite next season.
McGregor told to chase Saudi money
According to Celtic legend Frank McAvennie, McGregor appears to be closer than ever to ending his 25-year association with the Parkhead side - and the former striker believes that the life-changing money on offer in Saudi Arabia must hold appeal to the 33-year-old.
"It's just me and my instincts," McAvennie explained on his Let Me Be Frank podcast. "I tell you why, he came out and said about not matching his ambitions - but it's the first time in 10 years he wasn't the main guy in the main kit advert, and I thought 'oh.'
"Listen, if he goes he will go with my blessing because he has been different class. I hope he stays. He has got Brendan over there, but he has Ange as well. I am thinking the guy is at an age where you go over there for two years, you will make more money in two years than your whole career."
The Hoops captain made 57 appearances across all competitions last season, scoring three goals and providing four assists. All told, McGregor has played a whopping 575 competitive games and won the Premiership 11 times.
A move to Al-Nassr would be his first permanent transfer away from Celtic. The only other club he has played for in his career to date was Notts County during a loan spell in League One in 2013/14.
