Tonali move closer?

Newcastle have identified AS Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara as a replacement for Sandro Tonali, The Telegraph writes.

The Italy international is being chased by Arsenal, Man City and Man Utd and is believed to be keen to complete a major transfer this summer, following a disappointing season at Newcastle.

The Magpies would cash in on him if their valuation of over €90 million is met. The funds from that sale would then be reinvested on a replacement, with the highly-rated Camara one of the options currently under consideration.

Jose Mourinho has made it clear to Real Madrid that West Ham midfielder Mateus Fernandes is his priority midfield target, as per AS.

Although numerous names have been discussed, the 63-year-old is "particularly fond" of his compatriot. The fact that both are represented by Jorge Mendes is believed to be a major advantage.

However, Fernandes is also being chased by Man Utd, and reports have suggested that he is keen to join the Red Devils. They, too, hold an ostensible advantage in the form of director Jason Wilcox.

TEAMtalk claims that he laid the groundwork for Fernandes' 2024 move to Southampton before he departed for Man Utd. Similar to Tonali, West Ham want at least €90m for the midfielder.

Arsenal's Yildiz enquiry

Arsenal have seen an enquiry for Juventus attacker Kenan Yildiz rebuffed, The Athletic reports.

The Gunners identified the Turkey international as a potential option for the left wing, and they tried to test the waters with an approach. However, they were told in no uncertain terms that Yildiz is not for sale this summer.

The youngster was rewarded with a bumper new deal in February and is considered the face of the project at Juventus. Arsenal have already turned their attention to different targets.

Spurs eye Chevalier

Tottenham have made an enquiry for PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier, L'Equipe understands.

The young goalkeeper struggled after joining the Parisians last summer and eventually lost his place to Matvey Safonov. He is now facing an uncertain future, though PSG have yet to make a final decision on their goalkeeper department.

This uncertainty has attracted the attention of suitors who are keen to exploit the situation. Besiktas are showing an interest, while numerous other European sides, including Tottenham, are also monitoring the situation.

Romero confusion

Man Utd have joined the race to sign Tottenham captain Cristian Romero, Gaston Edul claims.

The Argentina international is expected to leave Spurs this summer, and Man Utd are said to be ready to make a bid for him. However, TEAMtalk writes that Red Devils sources are playing down the links with Romero.

The report states that Man Utd are not actively pursuing a centre-back signing at this stage, with their efforts instead focused on bringing in a new left-back.
