Man Utd Transfer News Today: €90m advantage as Cristian Romero offer prepared
All the latest Man Utd transfer news in one place, including updates on Cristian Romero, Mateus Fernandes and Alex Scott.
Man Utd to bid for Romero?
Man Utd are "preparing an offer" for Tottenham captain Cristian Romero, according to Gaston Edul.
The Argentina international is expected to leave Spurs after another disappointing season, with the club said to be open to cashing in on him at the right price. Romero has been fielding strong interest from Atletico Madrid in recent months.
It is now claimed that Man Utd have also entered the race for the centre-back. However, TEAMtalk writes that Red Devils sources have "shut down" the links with Romero.
Fernandes advantage
Man Utd hold a key advantage in the race to sign West Ham midfielder Mateus Fernandes in the shape of director Jason Wilcox, TEAMtalk asserts.
The Portugal international joined the Hammers after a year at Southampton last summer. It is claimed that before Wilcox left his director of football role with the Saints in April 2024, he laid the groundwork for the club's signing of Fernandes.
As a result of this existing relationship, it is believed that Man Utd are in the box seat for his signing. Nevertheless, the main hurdle remains agreeing a fee with West Ham, who continue to insist on a price tag north of €90m.
Scott to be fitted with release clause
Bournemouth are willing to hand Alex Scott a release clause in a bid to get him to commit to a new contract, The Athletic reports.
The England midfielder is one of several names being considered by Man Utd as they look to revamp their engine room, but the Cherries are determined to keep him for at least one more season.
Scott is due to be rewarded with an improved contract if he stays, and Bournemouth are ready to fit his contract with an exit clause to allow him to pursue a big move in the future.
Anderson hope?
Man Utd have not yet given up hope of signing Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson, as per The Guardian.
Man City are currently considered the clear favourites to sign the 23-year-old, and they have already seen a bid rejected by Forest, who are demanding north of €115m. Anderson is believed to be keen to join the Etihad club.
However, he also remains Man Utd's "dream" target, and they remain convinced that a deal could be possible, even if the chances currently look slim due to the inroads already made by their local rivals.
