Arsenal Transfer News Today: Morgan Rogers 'ready' for move as first approach confirmed
FootballTransfers runs through the latest Arsenal transfer news, rumours and gossip, including updates on Morgan Rogers and Kenan Yildiz.
Morgan Rogers verdict
Aston Villa attacker Morgan Rogers is “ready” to join Arsenal during the upcoming summer transfer window, according to former England striker Emile Heskey.
The 23-year-old has emerged as one of Arsenal’s primary transfer targets for this summer, as revealed by FootballTransfers, and the Gunners are keen to beat fellow suitors Chelsea to his signature after the 2026 World Cup.
“He's definitely ready for that step up,” Heskey told The Standard when asked about Rogers’ potential summer move to Arsenal.
“Villa's in a difficult position where they have to sell players on to balance the books. But look, I think for Villa, they've got to try and keep players like that. You can't keep selling.
“I was at Villa when Ashley Young left, Gareth Barry left, James Milner left. Players like Stewart Downing left. They are really trying to build on top of that and have a go. So it's tough for them.”
Kenan Yildiz approach
Arsenal have made an enquiry to Juventus over a possible summer move for Turkey forward Kenan Yildiz, it has been revealed.
The Gunners are in the market for a new left winger and they have now approached Juventus for Yildiz following months of speculation linking them with a move for the highly-rated 21-year-old.
However, The Athletic have confirmed that Arsenal’s initial enquiry was rebuffed by Juventus, with the Serie A giants informing Mikel Arteta’s side that Yildiz is not for sale this summer after he signed a lucrative four-year contract in February.
As a result, it’s reported that Arsenal have now turned their attention to other targets, with a summer deal for Yildiz ruled out.
Jose Mourinho asks for Riccardo Calafiori
Incoming Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho wants the club to make an audacious move to sign Arsenal defender Riccardo Calafiori this summer, according to reports in Spain.
The Portuguese is on the verge of replacing Alvaro Arbeloa as Los Blancos’ new head coach after Florentino Perez was re-elected club president until 2030 following Sunday’s elections.
Real are set to sign France international Ibrahima Konate on a free transfer and Inter Milan right-back Denzel Dumfries in a €20million (£17.3m) deal after Perez defeated renewable energy entrepreneur Enrique Riquelme in the club's first presidential election to feature a challenger for 20 years.
And now according to Spanish publication Diario AS, Mourinho has reportedly told Perez of his wish to sign either Arsenal’s Calafiori or Manchester City’s Josko Gvardiol for the left-back berth in his Real XI.
Sandro Tonali boost
Arsenal have potentially moved a step closer to signing Sandro Tonali after learning Newcastle United have identified AS Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara as a midfield replacement, according to The Telegraph.
FootballTransfers understands that Tonali is on Arsenal’s radar ahead of this summer and a move to the Emirates Stadium could well be on the cards before the start of the 2026-27 season.
The Telegraph understands Newcastle would look to use the funds generated from Tonali's potential sale towards signing highly-rated Monaco ace Camara, who has also been watched by Liverpool in recent months.
Mateus Fernandes latest
West Ham United midfielder Mateus Fernandes wants to join a team where he is “guaranteed a serious starting role,” according to a report from CaughtOffside.
The Portuguese star is expected to leave West Ham following their relegation to the Championship and it’s been reported that Arsenal and Manchester United are locked in a battle for his signature, with a fee of up to €100m set to be required to sign him.
Man Utd have initiated direct talks with the 21-year-old’s representatives in recent days, but Arsenal remain in the race to sign him as they look to bolster Mikel Arteta’s midfield options.
Newcastle want record fee for Valentino Livramento
Arsenal remain keen admirers of Newcastle United defender Valentino Livramento, but they have been put off by his price tag, as per TEAMtalk.
It’s reported that Newcastle want a hefty fee for the England star, with Arsenal potentially required to make him the most expensive right-back in football history - eclipsing the €68m fee PSG paid Inter Milan to sign Achraf Hakimi.
Arsenal, and fellow suitors Manchester City, now have major reservations about pursuing a deal this summer, with Livramento possibly set to remain at Newcastle as a result.
