Wonderkid striker breaks silence over Arsenal transfer links
One of Arsenal’s alleged transfer targets has spoken out about a move to the club after reports that the Gunners have watched him in action in recent times.
Nicolo Tresoldi finished the season with 23 goals in all competitions for Club Brugge and the 21-year-old’s form has seen him considered for a move this summer by the Gunners.
Tresoldi insisted he was happy at Brugge and, ‘as things stand’, he would be with the club next season, although he also mentioned that ‘anything can happen in the summer’.
When asked about the interest from Arsenal by Sport Bild, Tresoldi said: “I don’t know if that’s true (laughs). But it’s nice to be linked with such clubs. It’s an honour for me, and it shows I’m on the right path. I want to keep working hard and win trophies. As for my future, I’m very relaxed.”
Tresoldi was also asked about potentially returning to play football in Germany, having moved to the country as a child and representing the nation at international level.
“Of course, but I also enjoy being abroad,” Tresoldi said. “After all, I was born and raised in Italy. I moved to Hannover at 13 and now I’m in Belgium. I like travelling and playing in different countries, so I can imagine anything and I’m open to everything. But right now, I’m happy in Brugge.”
Arsenal scout prolific youngster Tresoldi
Tresoldi came through the academy of Hannover 96 and featured regularly for the club in the 2. Bundesliga before joining Club Brugge last summer.
The youngster won the top scorer award in his debut season in the Belgian Pro League by scoring 19 goals and he has been a regular for Germany’s under-21 side, netting 12 goals in 24 caps.
Arsenal were reported in April to have sent a scout to observe Tresoldi and, while the Gunners are seeking more proven candidates currently, they are still understood to be monitoring the situation.
Julian Alvarez is still Arsenal’s top target to strengthen in attack but, with doubts still emerging over the future of the likes of Gabriel Jesus and Leandro Trossard, a move for Tresoldi can’t be ruled out this summer.
