Arsenal 'pushing' to complete second summer signing - Romano
Arsenal are reportedly “pushing” to sign Leicester City wonderkid Jeremy Monga when the 2026 summer transfer window opens.
The Gunners secured their first Premier League title in 22 years in May and they are set to back head coach Mikel Arteta in the transfer market this summer as they look to finally win the Champions League next term after losing to Paris Saint-Germain on penalties in 2025-26.
Piero Hincapie is set to become Arsenal’s first signing of the window, with an agreement in place to sign him permanently for €52 million after a successful loan spell from Bayer Leverkusen, but the club are also keen to add several other reinforcements.
FootballTransfers understands that a new right-back, a new central midfielder and a new forward are all on Arsenal’s agenda, with Newcastle United duo Valentino Livramento and Sandro Tonali among the players currently on their transfer radar before the window opens on 15 June.
The north London giants have also been heavily linked with a move for Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez, but he wants to join Barcelona and it’s been reported that a move to Camp Nou is likely to be finalised if a suitable bid is submitted.
Meanwhile, Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli shared duties as Arsenal’s preferred left winger last season, however signing an upgrade is one of the club’s primary targets for the summer, with Aston Villa superstar Morgan Rogers firmly on their wishlist, as revealed by FootballTransfers.
In addition, Arsenal are also keen to future-proof their first-team squad and they have earmarked the aforementioned Monga as a possible signing.
The 16-year-old became the second-youngest player in Premier League history when he made his English top flight debut for Leicester against Newcastle United in April 2025, and he played 30 times in all competitions for the Foxes last season as they suffered a shock relegation from the Championship to League One.
Jeremy Monga to join Arsenal?
Monga has been linked with every top Premier League club since his first-team breakthrough at Leicester, but it’s Arsenal who are now considered to be the frontrunners in the race to secure his signature this summer.
Ben Jacobs has revealed that talks have been opened to bring the 16-year-old to the Emirates Stadium, while transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has now confirmed that Arsenal are eager to finalise a deal when the window opens.
He posted on X: “Arsenal are pushing to advance on Jeremy Monga deal with Leicester City and player’s camp. Discussions ongoing as Monga has opened doors to the move to Arsenal.”
At just 16 years old, and with only 37 senior games for Leicester under his belt, it’s likely that Monga would either join Arsenal’s U21 side upon his arrival in north London, if a deal is agreed, or be sent out on loan for the 2026-27 season.
