Man Utd set for ‘final green light’ for €50m deal today
Manchester United are set to get confirmation of Rasmus Hojlund’s €50 million transfer to Napoli, with Antonio Conte’s side only needing to secure Champions League football for the deal to be finalised.
Hojlund was sent on loan to the dethroned Serie A champions last summer, with the obligation to purchase should they reach the Champions League next term. Conte’s men will reach that goal should they win at home against Bologna.
The deal is set to fuel United’s own summer transfer ambitions, which revolve primarily around strengthening their midfield options.
Rasmus Hojlund deal close
Fabrizio Romano explained on his YouTube channel: “United could get the final green light, the official approval to receive €44m, a total package of €50m, for Rasmus Hojlund.
“Because if Napoli get official qualification for Champions League football on Monday, the obligation to buy for Hojlund will be activated. So Manchester United are set to receive €44m on top of the €6m they already received last year in August 2025 from Napoli for the loan deal.
“The €50m package is set to be activated next week for Hojlund. He will also have a release clause in his contract from June 2027, not this summer, but from next summer, valid for €85m.
“So that is the story on Hojlund, and obviously it is extra money for Manchester United. That is an important topic.”
First signing agreed?
United, meanwhile, are closing in on their first summer move of the summer, with an agreement in place to sign Ederson from Atalanta reportedly in place.
The Brazil international, 26, has been outlined as a potential €45m signing. Transfer expert Nicolo Schira has indicated on X that personal terms are agreed and United are ready to pay the money that Atalanta want for the midfielder, who was previously close to Atletico Madrid.
Are any other deals close?
United’s other transfer business continues in the background, with no significant progress apparently made on any other deals.
The next major move could well involve Marcus Rashford, whose future at Barcelona remains uncertain. Although the winger scored against Real Madrid, the Catalans have been reticent in paying the €30m buyout clause in his loan agreement.
Rashford has admitted that he is open to a move, stating: “I don’t know if I’m going to stay. If I were a magician, I’d stay.
“I came to Barcelona to win and my intention is to keep winning. The team is incredible. This team is going to win many things in the future and being able to be a part of it would be very special.”
Meanwhile, Man Utd continue to be linked with a string of central midfielders, including Elliot Anderson and Carlos Baleba, as they seek a replacement for Casemiro, who has doubled down on his intention to leave the club at the end of his contract in June.
The Red Devils have also outlined their intention to sign a winger and a new left-back over the course of what promises to be a busy summer transfer window.
