Jurrien Timber may well have been left surprised by the latest transfer rumours surrounding Arsenal.
According to Calciomercato.it , the Premier League club plans to approach Roma regarding Wesley's services. With this, Arsenal appears to be looking to bring in a new competitor for Timber.
Timber currently has a battle with Ben White for the regular right-back berth. However, it seems very likely that the Englishman will leave Arsenal this coming summer. White has been forced to settle for a reserve role behind Timber at North London outfit. As a result, he is effectively being pushed towards the exit and appears set to play elsewhere next season.

Arsenal are bracing themselves for this eventuality and are studying alternatives.
The Londoners are already very active on the transfer market. Calciomercato now reports that Wesley is on Mikel Arteta’s shortlist. However, Juventus, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United and Manchester City are also being linked to the 22-year-old Brazilian.

Wesley only signed for Roma last summer. The wing-back was acquired from Flamengo for no less than €25 million. He is a natural right-back but has typically operated on the left this season in Serie A. However, the belief is that he will be moved back to his favoured slot should he complete a move to Arsenal.
This season, the Brazilian full-back has already played 37 matches for Roma. In those appearances, he scored five goals and provided one assist. Wesley is under contract in the Italian capital until mid-2030.

Jurrien Timber, meanwhile, has also found himself to be the centre of some transfer rumours.
Real Madrid are reportedly interested in the versatile 24-year-old, who can operate either as a right-back or a centre-back.
Arsenal have no intention of allowing him to leave, with the speculation leading to claims that the Premier League leaders will demand up to €100m for the player.
Timber’s importance to the Gunners has been underlined by Arteta’s intention to wrap the player in cotton wool ahead of the Champions League final with PSG on 30 May, as revealed exclusively by FootballTransfers.
