RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande is one of the most in-demand players ahead of the summer transfer window, and the saga over his future has taken another twist with the news that Manchester City are seriously interested in signing him.

With 11 goals and eight assists to his credit across all competitions, the 19-year-old has been one of the breakout stars in the Bundesliga.

While Leipzig ideally want to keep him at the club for another year and are preparing instead to sell Castillo Lukeba to fund a bumper new contract for their teenage attacker, the pressure is growing on them to make a sale, with a transfer fee upwards of €100 million being discussed.

Man City join Diomande race

City’s interest in Diomande, which is reported by Fichajes, adds a new strain on the Bundesliga giants as they attempt to fend off interest in the player.

Already many of the world’s biggest teams, including Liverpool, Manchester United, PSG and Bayern Munich are pushing to sign him.

Pep Guardiola’s side, meanwhile, are poised to make an offer that will “disrupt the financial landscape of the next transfer window”.

In other words, they are ready to make Leipzig an offer they cannot refuse.

Diomande’s transfer options ranked

Despite Man City’s new interest in Diomande, the Etihad Stadium is not seen as the optimum destination for this promising young talent.

Guardiola’s side earn a Club Fit score of 69 from SciSports, which bases this judgement across a variety of key metrics, including potential development, game time, playing style and formation. The higher the score, the more chance a move has of succeeding.

Indeed, of the sides that have shown a serious interest in Diomande, Manchester United are regarded as his best option, with the Red Devils coming in with a Club Fit score of 74.

Liverpool, meanwhile, score 71, primarily because there are concerns over how much game time he would enjoy immediately at Anfield.
