Chelsea could finally have a solution to their striker issues this summer after being handed an opportunity to sign one of the most prolific strikers in Europe for a bargain fee this summer.

The Blues could look to sign another striker this summer despite spending €100 million on Liam Delap and Joao Pedro last summer and also having Nicolas Jackson set to return from his loan from Bayern Munich at the end of the season.

While Pedro has proven a success with his goals up front, Delap has only netted once in the Premier League this season and recent speculation has suggested that the 23-year-old could already be sold after one year at the club.

Chelsea are keen to increase their depth and the quality of competition in attack and they have previously scouted Serhou Guirassy, who has been among the top scorers in the Bundesliga once again this season.

Guirassy has netted 62 league goals in the last three seasons and BILD report that the Borussia Dortmund striker is now keen to leave the club in the summer and secure a big money move, ideally to an elite European side.

Crucially, Guirassy’s contract contains a release clause allowing him to depart for €35m and Chelsea could end up joining the likes of Tottenham, Milan, Fenerbahce and teams in Saudi Arabia for his signature.

Guirassy ready to become the experienced number nine Chelsea need

At 30 years old, Guirassy’s profile is certainly different to the young talent that Chelsea prefer to buy, however the lack of an experienced goalscorer to compete with Pedro has proven to be a consistent issue for Liam Rosenior’s side.

While Martinez and Delap are likely to leave Stamford Bridge in the coming months, Chelsea have already agreed to sign Emmanuel Emegha from affiliate club Strasbourg, although it remains to be seen what type of role the 23-year-old is handed when he arrives in the summer.

Guirassy could then emerge as a target, particularly with his release clause believed to only be valid for elite clubs in Europe such as Chelsea, Barcelona and Manchester United when it becomes active in July

Other teams would be forced to negotiate with Dortmund over a fee but, with two years left on his contract, Guirassy is understood to have made his decision to seek a new challenge in the summer and has given his priority to moving to a top side, giving Chelsea the chance to finally secure a proven goalscorer to complement their young squad.
