Arsenal double deal could transform Mikel Arteta’s side
Arsenal are well placed to claim the Premier League title but Mikel Arteta is already planning for a summer transfer market that could transform the Gunners’ ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Crucial to Arteta’s plans is selling players who he no longer believes can significantly contribute to the club’s success, and Atletico Madrid have opened the door to a spectacular double deal that could fuel Arsenal’s signing plans.
Diego Simeone’s side are seeking to recruit Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli from the North London side, according to Fichajes.
Atletico Madrid need to refresh attacking options
Atletico Madrid want to strengthen their attack with the Premier League pair as they brace themselves for the departure of two vital players.
Antoine Griezmann will leave the Wanda Metropolitano for Orlando City in MLS, and while Alexander Sorloth’s destination is currently unclear, the Norway international will also depart.
Gabriel Jesus is seen as the player who would come in and replace the Norwegian, offering versatility and guile.
The loss of Griezmann, meanwhile, is set to prompt a reshuffle that will free up space on the left wing, offering Martinelli a space to exploit.
Arsenal to replace deadwood
Both Gabriel Jesus and Martinelli are thought to be open to leaving Arsenal at the end of the season.
Neither has enjoyed the type of impact personally they would have wished this season, with the role of both players significantly reduced this term.
Arteta, meanwhile, is known for being ruthless for offloading players no longer integral to his plans.
Although Martinelli has featured 42 times this season for the Gunners, second-top scoring for them in all competitions with 11 goals, he ranks only 13th at the Emirates Stadium this season for minutes played. In the Premier League, he has only featured nine times as a starter.
Jesus, meanwhile, has had a complicated campaign as he returns from a serious knee injury. The No.9 has chipped in with five strikes but has managed only 25 minutes of Premier League football across Arsenal’s last six games, highlighting his reduced role.
How Arteta would spend €70m windfall
Arsenal would raise around €70m if they were to sell Martinelli and Jesus at their Estimated Transfer Values (ETV), opening the door to some potentially exciting arrivals at the Emirates in their place.
Arteta’s attacking options could, therefore, be transformed by the start of the new season.
With Bukayo Saka unmovable on the right wing and Viktor Gyokeres looking increasingly comfortable in the centre-forward role, the focus will be on bolstering that left flank.
One name closely linked with the club is RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande. With a price tag of €100m on his head, these potential sales could go a long way to funding a deal for the 19-year-old Ivory Coast star.

Even if he proves out of reach, a €70m windfall would allow Arsenal to chase major targets as Arteta’s quest for an ever stronger team continues.
