Darts icon Luke Littler wants Manchester United to sign VfB Stuttgart midfielder Angelo Stiller.

The two-time world champion was in Berlin this week for the Darts Premier League. On Thursday, Littler produced what he described as his "best performance in one evening" when he defeated Michael van Gerwen in the final to claim his second consecutive matchday victory.

During the event, Littler was asked about his other passion: football. The 19-year-old is a huge Man Utd fan. When pressed on his favourite German player, he used the opportunity to make a transfer plea for his beloved Red Devils.

"Angelo Stiller," Littler responded, before adding: "Come to United! Please come, we need help! Casemiro is leaving." The clip went viral on social media and was even liked by the Stuttgart midfielder.

Littler, of course, knew what he was doing. He probably doesn't spend his free time watching Stuttgart in the Bundesliga, but he knows Stiller because the 24-year-old has been frequently linked with a move to Old Trafford.

Stiller to Man Utd: The state of play

The Germany international has been on the Red Devils' radar for over a year, and Man Utd explored a move for him last summer, only to be left disappointed. Stiller wanted to stay at Stuttgart after winning the DFB-Pokal with the Swabian club.

He is a guaranteed starter under Sebastian Hoeness and decided that remaining at Stuttgart for another season would boost his World Cup chances. Somewhat bizarrely, though, this decision could yet backfire.

Even though he is enjoying yet another impressive season, Stiller seemingly isn't a shoo-in for the Germany squad, and he was originally omitted by Julian Nagelsmann for the current international break before joining up with the team as an injury replacement.

Despite his late call-up, he started against Switzerland in a 4-3 win - Germany's first over the Swiss in 18 years - on Friday. Looking ahead to the summer, Stiller, who currently has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €45.2 million, is expected to be on the move.

Man Utd continue to be linked with him, but BILD reports that the situation is currently remarkably quiet. Neither the Old Trafford club nor any other suitor has approached Stiller thus far.

Of course, with the season still in full swing, making transfer decisions for the summer is not the most pressing priority at present, but the fact that no club has so far registered a formal interest is notable.

As a result, it is difficult to say with any certainty whether Man Utd will return for Stiller this summer or if they will prioritise other targets, such as Adam Wharton, Carlos Baleba and Elliot Anderson.
