Man Utd to beat Chelsea to wonderkid signing thanks to 'positive relations'
Manchester United have an advantage over Chelsea in the pursuit of Tromso youngster Abubacarr Sedi Kinteh, according to a report.
The Gambia international moved to Norway last year and has proved to be a revelation for Tromso. Kinteh's development has been hugely impressive, with the 19-year-old starting 19 games in the Eliteserien in 2025.
His progress has not gone unnoticed in bigger leagues, most notably the Premier League. In early February, it was reported that both Chelsea and Man Utd were keen on signing him.
His left-footedness makes Kinteh particularly attractive, while he has also displayed eye-catching pace for a centre-back, akin to Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven.
He became a senior international for his country last year, and it is now widely expected that he will leave Tromso in the summer transfer window. Interestingly, Man Utd are said to hold a key advantage over Chelsea in the race to sign Kinteh.
Man Utd to sign Kinteh?
At least that is according to Corriere dello Sport. The Italian publication confirms the interest from Man Utd, Chelsea and several other clubs, including Ajax and PSV.
The report claims that Jason Wilcox and Omar Berrada are actively trying to bring Kinteh to Old Trafford this year, and it is believed that relations between Man Utd and Tromso are excellent.
The Red Devils have scouted Tromso's players and prospects in the Norwegian league in general on numerous occasions, which has helped forge a strong connection between the two clubs.
This gives Man Utd an advantage over other suitors, and there is a belief at Old Trafford that the teenager could immediately become a strong depth option for the first team, similar to Ayden Heaven.
It is thought that Man Utd will have a scouting party in attendance when Tromso kick off their Eliteserien campaign against Fredrikstad on 15 March. They appear to be very serious about their interest in Kinteh.
