Liverpool ready to beat Chelsea to €92m superstar striker
Liverpool are reportedly firmly in the race to sign Bournemouth forward Eli Junior Kroupi this summer, despite their recent purchases of Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike.
The Reds spent just shy of €500 million on seven new players last year, including Isak and Ekitike, but they have been widely tipped to dip back into the transfer market in 2026 amid their pursuit of reinforcements across several positions.
Arne Slot’s side are expected to sign at least one new central defender to replace Ibrahima Konate, who is currently set to depart on a Bosman deal in July, while they are also eager to land a new central midfielder and a new winger.
In addition, French publication Telefoot (via Le10Sport) claim that Liverpool are ready to challenge for the signing of Bournemouth star Kroupi, who has mostly been deployed as a centre forward or a No.10 since his arrival on the south coast.
The France U21 international has scored eight goals in 24 games during his debut Premier League season and his form has led to significant transfer interest ahead of the summer window.
It has been reported that Bournemouth are keen to agree a new contract with Kroupi’s representatives in order to ward off suitors, but Arsenal and Chelsea are among the clubs heavily linked with a summer move for the 19-year-old.
Telefoot now report that Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid are also interested in signing Kroupi this summer, with the teenager potentially set to be on the move ahead of the 2026-27 season.
Verdict: Will Eli Junior Kroupi join Liverpool?
Liverpool already have the aforementioned Isak and Ekitike as centre forward options and a deal for Kroupi therefore seems fairly unlikely, although it’s reported that Slot’s side are keen to sign the 19-year-old, who is expected to cost around €92m (£80m) this summer.
Speaking to Telefoot about his career goals, Kroupi hinted that a Bournemouth exit could soon be on the cards.
“I had dreams of winning the Ballon d'Or, of playing for the biggest clubs in the world, but they aren't really dreams anymore, rather objectives because I know that I can make them a reality,” he admitted.
“I'm now working to get to where I want to be.”
However, Bournemouth are understood to be in contract talks with Kroupi as they look to tie him down to a new deal, while Liverpool will also face significant competition from multiple top European clubs in their bid to sign him.
