Man Utd make fresh Marcus Rashford transfer decision
Manchester United are still planning on selling Marcus Rashford on a permanent deal this summer, despite the interim appointment of Michael Carrick.
The England international was frozen out by former Red Devils head coach Ruben Amorim and after several weeks on the sidelines, he kickstarted his career with a successful loan stint at Aston Villa during the second half of last season.
Rashford was expected to be sold during the 2025 summer transfer window, but Man Utd were unable to finalise a permanent exit and he instead completed a season-long loan move to Barcelona, with an option-to-buy clause worth €30 million included in the deal.
It remains to be seen if Hansi Flick’s side will opt to trigger this clause, with the club yet to make a definitive transfer decision despite Rashford’s impressive form at Camp Nou this term.
The 28-year-old has scored 10 goals and provided 13 assists in 34 appearances across all competitions since his arrival at Barcelona and rumours in the Spanish media have suggested the club are likely to sign him permanently this summer.
However, the recent appointment of Carrick at Man Utd has raised questions over Rashford’s future, with the England star having worked with the interim Red Devils boss for three years before he became Middlesbrough head coach.
Marcus Rashford to be sold by Man Utd?
While reports have hinted that Rashford could return to Man Utd if Carrick is appointed on a permanent basis this summer, The Sun have confirmed that a move back to Old Trafford remains unlikely.
It’s claimed that Carrick never considered recalling Rashford from his loan spell at Barcelona in January, while the interim boss is yet to think about any potential summer transfers as his current contract is due to expire at the end of the season.
In addition, the Man Utd hierarchy are currently focusing their attention on appointing a new permanent head coach and Rashford is therefore likely to be sold permanently during the upcoming summer window.
