Fabrizio Romano Transfer News: Guehi U-TURN, Bruno Fernandes UPDATE, Liverpool SIGNING
Fabrizio Romano delivers the latest transfer news as Aston Villa and Liverpool secure elite teenage talents, Manchester City close in on Antoine Semenyo and Mark Guehi and Manchester United face renewed uncertainty around Bruno Fernandes and their managerial future.
Brian Madjo to Aston Villa
Aston Villa have moved aggressively to secure one of Europe’s most highly rated teenage strikers as part of their long-term recruitment strategy.
Romano told his YouTube channel: “Exclusive story from today, because Aston Villa are set to sign Brian Madjo, a striker born in January 2009, with an English passport, joining from Metz. It’s a here we go. Villa are paying around €12m for this talent, considered one of the best young centre-forwards in Europe. He will develop under Unai Emery and alongside players like Ollie Watkins. Medical is being prepared and the deal is completed.”
Liverpool complete Mor Ndiaye signing
Liverpool continue to invest heavily in elite youth profiles following extensive scouting across international tournaments.
“Liverpool have also completed a deal for Mor Ndiaye, a 17-year-old Senegalese defender. It’s a here we go. Agreement is done with the club, the player and his agents. Liverpool acted fast after scouting him at the Under-17 World Cup and decided to anticipate strong interest from a German club. Formal steps will now follow,” Romano confirmed.
Contract talks at Bayern Munich and AC Milan
Several elite European clubs are accelerating contract negotiations to avoid losing key players on free transfers.
“Bayern are very close to extending Dayot Upamecano. The structure of the deal is agreed and discussions are ongoing over the release clause, which is the final point to clarify,” Romano said.
“AC Milan are also growing optimistic about extending Mike Maignan. He is out of contract in 2026 and Milan have improved their proposal to around €5m net per season plus bonuses. Chelsea tried before the Club World Cup but the deal collapsed. Milan are now confident and waiting for the player’s final answer.”
Mark Guehi transfer decision approaching
Crystal Palace are open to selling their captain as interest intensifies ahead of the January window.
“Crystal Palace are prepared to let Mark Guehi leave in January to avoid losing him on a free. Manchester City want him now and are ready to negotiate with Palace. Liverpool remain interested for January or summer, Bayern are keen for a free transfer, and Arsenal have made calls for the summer,” Romano revealed.
“For City, the agreement with Palace would not be an issue. The key point is the player’s decision. Gehi’s original plan was to move in the summer on a free, but City want him immediately. Talks are ongoing with his agents and a decision is expected soon.”
Antoine Semenyo completes Manchester City move
Manchester City have finalised their attacking reinforcement with no late complications.
“There is no panic and no hijack. Antoine Semenyo is a Manchester City player. Medical is happening today, contract until 2031 is ready, and everything was already agreed with Bournemouth. Stories about Liverpool hijacking the deal were never true,” Romano added.
“He said goodbye to Bournemouth in the best way, scoring against Tottenham and showing full professionalism. Now he is ready to work under Pep Guardiola.”
Manchester United manager rumours and Bruno Fernandes future
Speculation continues around Manchester United’s managerial plans and the long-term future of their captain.
“On Xavi and Manchester United, I’m not aware of any talks or negotiations at this stage. Xavi would love to work in the Premier League one day and feels ready for a new chapter, but as of today there is nothing concrete with United,” Romano said.
“On Bruno Fernandes, Ruben Amorim was crucial last summer in convincing him to stay when Saudi proposals arrived, including from Al-Hilal. Amorim pushed strongly for Bruno to remain part of the project.
“With Amorim leaving, it does not mean Bruno will leave. Not in January. His focus remains on Manchester United. In the summer, ahead of the World Cup, Saudi clubs will return, as they always do, but for now there is no change in Bruno’s position.”
