Adam Wharton says 'YES' to bombshell transfer
Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton is reportedly edging closer to joining Liverpool on a five-year contract.
The England star has been widely tipped to leave Selhurst Park in 2026 and he is being courted by a number of elite Premier League clubs amid his immense form for the Eagles.
Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are all known admirers of the 21-year-old, however Liverpool appear to have emerged as the frontrunners for his signature and are pushing to finalise a deal with Crystal Palace.
In fact, transfer reporter Nicolo Schira has revealed that a transfer is close to completion.
He posted on X: “Adam Wharton is getting closer to Liverpool from Crystal Palace. The midfielder has already given his availability to join LFC with a 5-years contract.”
Wharton has been an instrumental player for Crystal Palace since his arrival from Blackburn Rovers in January 2024, but he is set to become the latest star to depart south London amid an impending exodus.
Jean-Philippe Mateta, head coach Oliver Glasner and Wharton are all expected to follow in the footsteps of Eberechi Eze and Marc Guehi by leaving Selhurst Park this summer, while Daniel Munoz has already confirmed his desire to depart if he is approached by an elite European club.
Wharton is, however, likely to command a huge transfer fee, with reports speculating that Palace may demand at least €100 million to sanction a sale this summer.
Adam Wharton to Liverpool?
Wharton has been identified as a priority transfer target by Man Utd officials, however Liverpool are pushing to bring him to Anfield amid their pursuit of a new central midfielder.
The Reds already boast an impressive midfield roster that includes the likes of Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai and Curtis Jones, however Wataru Endo has been widely tipped to leave the club this summer and the club are keen to land a high-quality replacement.
Wharton, whose Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) stands at €61.7m, has racked up 74 first-team appearances for Crystal Palace and his current contract with the Eagles is due to expire in 2029.
