Premier League sack race: Amorim 'gone' as Maresca 'hangs by a thread'
Ruben Amorim and Enzo Maresca are under growing pressure at Manchester United and Chelsea, respectively, following another matchday of disappointing results.
The Red Devils hosted rock-bottom Wolves at Old Trafford on Tuesday evening and looked to be cruising to an easy three points when Joshua Zirkzee opened the scoring with a rare goal after 27 minutes.
However, Man Utd were unable to increase their lead. Wolves equalised on the stroke of half-time, and then actually had the better chances in the second half, although they did almost score a freakish own goal.
Ultimately, the game finished level, with Wolves picking up their first point since October. Elsewhere, Chelsea also did not manage more than a draw with a Bournemouth side that hasn't won a game in two months.
A breathless first half at Stamford Bridge yielded four goals, but clear-cut chances were at a premium in the second 45. This 2-2 draw means that Chelsea have won just two of their past nine games across all competitions.
Amorim 'gone,' Maresca 'hanging by a thread'
According to the enigmatic group of transfer insiders Indykaila, both Ruben Amorim and Enzo Maresca are under intense pressure and unlikely to be in charge of their respective clubs next season.
In the case of Amorim, they are convinced that he is already "gone" and that his sacking is a question of when, not if. He definitely will not be at Man Utd next term, it is claimed.
As for Maresca, his exit is not quite set in stone yet, but the signs are anything but positive. The Italian is "hanging by a thread" following poor results and his surprising outburst after the 2-0 win over Everton earlier this month.
As early as September, Indykaila claimed that there were internal concerns at Chelsea over Maresca, with players said to be unconvinced by the manager.
Since then, tension has been bubbling behind the scenes at Stamford Bridge, ultimately culminating in Maresca claiming post-Everton that he feels a lack of support.
Maresca, who has been feeling unwell in recent days and skipped his media duties on Tuesday, also faces the problem of having failed to win over the Chelsea fanbase.
Every decision of his is questioned by the Blues faithful, and boos rang around Stamford Bridge when he took Cole Palmer off for Joao Pedro in the 64th minute. He is facing an uphill battle to keep his job.
