Man Utd Transfer News Today: January SIGNING plan confirmed amid €120m twist
All the latest Man Utd transfer news in one place, including updates on Elliot Anderson, Conor Gallagher and Joshua Zirkzee.
Man Utd to make attacking signing
Man Utd are actively scouring the January market for an attacking signing after missing out on Antoine Semenyo to Man City, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Man Utd want to bring in a replacement for Joshua Zirkzee, who has made it clear that he is keen on a move to AS Roma. The Serie A side have offered a €40 million package.
However, Zirkzee's move is fully contingent on Man Utd's ability to source a suitable replacement in the upcoming window. Should no adequate player be found, the Dutchman will not be allowed to leave.
Man City confident of winning Anderson race
After beating Man Utd to the signing of Antoine Semenyo, Man City are also confident that they will come out on top in the battle to land €120m-rated Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson.
Anderson is known to be a priority target for Man Utd heading into 2026. The Old Trafford club are desperate to sign a marquee midfielder, although it is likely that this will only happen in the summer.
Man City, though, are bullish about their chances of securing the signing of Anderson at the end of the season. There are concerns about Rodri's long-term future at the club, so the Cityzens have made it a priority to bring in a midfielder.
Atletico Madrid greenlight Gallagher exit
Atletico Madrid have decided to allow Conor Gallagher to leave the club in the January transfer window due to his desire to return to the Premier League.
Man Utd are among the clubs interested in the former Chelsea star, having already explored a move late in the summer. Gallagher is not a top target for the Red Devils, but they would be open to signing him should he be available for a reasonable price.
Atletico Madrid appreciate that Gallagher is too good a player to sit on the bench and they do not wish to ruin his chances of making England's World Cup squad.
El Mala gives Man Utd the cold shoulder
Koln wonderkid Said El Mala is unmoved by Man Utd's ongoing contact with his agency as he has a clear plan for his future, which does not involve a transfer in 2026 unless his club suffer relegation or they need to cash in on him to balance the books.
Before thinking about joining an elite side, El Mala wants to first establish himself as an undisputed starter at Koln. It is therefore possible that the 19-year-old will stay beyond the current season.
El Mala's agent has also confirmed that the prodigy is currently not interested in a transfer despite persistent interest from suitors in the Premier League.
Man Utd quoted record Toure price
Man Utd are among the clubs interested in Hoffenheim youngster Bazoumana Toure, who is playing at the Africa Cup of Nations with compatriot Amad Diallo.
It is fully expected that the rapid winger leaves Hoffenheim in the summer, and the Bundesliga outfit are planning to receive a club-record fee in excess of €44m for him.
The teenager has been one of the breakout stars of the Bundesliga season and is also attracting the attention of Arsenal and numerous other suitors.
Man Utd want to bring back McTominay
Man Utd regret selling Scott McTominay to Napoli and are interested in re-signing the Scotland international next summer. It is claimed that a move after this season is '70 per cent likely.'
The 29-year-old has been a resounding success in Serie A, but he could be tempted to return to the Premier League should Napoli retain their Scudetto.
Due to his exploits, which saw him named Serie A's Player of the Season and finish 18th in the Ballon d'Or ranking, he has also attracted the attention of other Premier League clubs as well as LaLiga giants Barcelona.
