Mainoo headlines Man Utd outs for January

Kobbie Mainoo is among the stars Ruben Amorim is looking to sell in January in the hopes of raising funds to add to his Manchester United squad.

United are at the brink of their spending power after splashing €250 million on players during the summer and they will need to sell before they can buy, with four players thought to be on Amorim’s axe list according to ESPN.

Offers will be listened to for Mainoo along with Joshua Zirkzee, Manuel Ugarte and Tyrell Malacia, although United are reluctant to trim their squad before the conclusion of the African Cup on Nations on January 18.

It is anticipated that United will instead look to be active in the second half of the window in the hopes of signing a midfielder, with Angelo Stiller the most likely option of the club’s targets to be available in January.

Bayern Munich eye cut-price Baleba transfer

United could face competition from Bayern Munich in the pursuit of one of their top midfield targets, who could be available for a cheaper fee than the Red Devils were quoted in the summer.

Having failed to bring in a midfielder during the summer, United are desperate to make an elite signing in the middle of the park in 2026, although they could be forced to wait until the end of the season for such a deal.

While the likes of Adam Wharton and Elliot Anderson rank high on their list, United saw an approach for Carlos Baleba turned down by Brighton during the summer despite speculation that they would consider offers of €100m.

And now, according to German outlet tz, Bayern have added Baleba to their shortlist and believe they could sign him for €85m, giving United some comfort even with the development of a challenger in their pursuit of the Brighton star.

Crystal Palace open door to Mateta Man Utd transfer

Manchester United have been given a boost in their hopes of signing Jean-Philippe Mateta in January after Crystal Palace opened their stance to his sale.

Mateta has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford as he enters the last 18 months of his contract with Palace and the 28-year-old is believed to be keen on securing a move to a big club in the near future.

According to The Sun, Mateta has attracted United and Arsenal’s interest, with Palace keen to ensure they do not lose another key star on a free transfer amid the likelihood of Marc Guehi leaving when his deal expires in the summer.

Palace believe Mateta’s head has been turned by the speculation over his future and they are resigning themselves to the fact that he may opt against extending his deal, which could see them take advantage of United’s interest in the coming months.

Man Utd push for Semenyo transfer

Manchester United are reportedly ready to rival Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City for the signing of Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo in January.

The Ghana international has emerged as a top target for a number of elite Premier League clubs ahead of the upcoming winter window and he will be available for a fee of €74 million due to a release clause in his current contract with the Cherries.

Romano gives update over Man Utd wonderkid

Fabrizio Romano has revealed the truth about reports linking Barcelona to United’s 15-year-old wonderkid JJ Gabriel.

“What I can say is that it is not only Barcelona,” Romano said on YouTube. “Several top clubs around Europe are following JJ Gabriel and really love the player.

“Last summer, Jason Wilcox at Manchester United did an excellent job to keep him at the club despite strong interest. He convinced the player to trust the project.

“It is not only Barcelona. A very big English club was also interested last summer. United are doing everything they can to keep him long term. They want to include him in the first team in the future. He has already trained with the first team at times and is seen internally as something very special.

“Barcelona are not in a more advanced position than any other club. The interest is at an early stage. United want to keep the player and believe he can be a crucial part of their long-term project.”
