Semenyo has scored six goals and provided three assists in 13 English top flight appearances so far this season, and he has been tipped to secure a mid-season move amid substantial interest in his signature.

The former Bristol City star is viewed as a “versatile, proven-quality addition” by the Man Utd hierarchy and they are now contemplating triggering his release clause in January, despite the fact it is set to drop to €57m this summer.

That is according to a report from TEAMtalk, who state that Ruben Amorim’s side are concerned they may miss out on Semenyo if they wait until the conclusion of the 2025-26 season.

As a result, they are weighing up the possibility of a winter swoop, with club officials reportedly believing that a deal may be worth it.

Man Utd chase new central midfielder

Despite Man Utd’s increased interest in Semenyo, the Red Devils’ priority still remains in central midfield.

Amorim is determined to sign at least one new player in the middle of the park in 2026 and reports suggest he is eager to finalise a deal in January in order to ease the workload on Casemiro.

Premier League trio Carlos Baleba, Adam Wharton and Elliot Anderson are all on Man Utd’s transfer radar ahead of the January window, with the latter believed to be the club’s priority target amid his immense form for Nottingham Forest and England so far this campaign.

However, it’s reported that he is likely to cost in excess of €100m, with Forest unwilling to sanction a sale unless they receive a significant transfer fee.
