AS Roma are going "all out" for Manchester United forward Joshua Zirkzee, according to a report.

The Netherlands international has been on the wishlist of Giallorossi head coach Gian Piero Gasperini for weeks. The Italian tactician is determined to bolster his attack, as his side has scored only 17 goals in Serie A so far this term.

Zirkzee is Gasperini's preferred target, having already wanted him during his tenure as Atalanta's boss. The 24-year-old previously starred for Bologna, and it is believed that a return to Italy is the most likely scenario for January.

The Dutchman wants to be a regular starter to salvage his chances of making his country's World Cup squad. Roma are willing to offer him a guaranteed starting job, while they are also prepared to put a hefty fee on the table to secure his services.

On Monday, reports claimed that Roma's offer for Zirkzee clocked in at a sizeable €40 million, although he would initially join the Giallorossi on loan until the end of the season.

Roma pushing hard for Zirkzee

Voetbal International now reports that Roma are going "all out" for Zirkzee. The Serie A giants want to get a deal done as soon as possible, but Man Utd are still not giving the final green light.

Ruben Amorim will reluctantly allow Zirkzee to depart, but only once his other attackers, namely Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo, have returned from the Africa Cup of Nations, so this saga could yet drag on until the final on 18 January.

Discussions between Zirkzee and Gasperini have been positive. An agreement on personal terms is in place, and Zirkzee is "enthusiastic" about the transfer.

However, the report makes it clear that Man Utd will have the final say. Once the approval from the Red Devils arrives, this deal is expected to "quickly gain momentum."
