Mohamed Salah has been told to expect offers from the Saudi Pro League, while Liverpool have been sent a stark warning over the Egypt international forward.

Salah finds himself in the eye of a transfer storm after being left out of the starting XI in successive Premier League matches by Reds boss Arne Slot.

Long courted by teams from Saudi Arabia, who wanted to sign him as a free agent before he agreed to new terms with Liverpool, the door is open for the 33-year-old to make the move in 2026.

The iPaper reports that Saudi are more confident of landing Salah than ever – and the really bad news for Liverpool is that the €230 million (£200m) deal once tabled by Al-Ittihad is no longer on the table.

Instead, there are teams from the Pro League seeking a cut-price January deal, as well as “growing confidence” that a move will be completed.

“Several senior figures at PIF (Saudi’s Public Investment Fund) and within the Pro League believe the power lies with them,” a source said.

“Mo’s form, unhappiness about not being in the team, Liverpool’s need to change something and the fact they have too many strikers all help push him to the Middle East.”

In November, Salah was tipped to sign a contract worth €170m a year with the Pro League.

Mo Salah: What fee will Liverpool receive?

Despite Saudi Arabia downplaying the possibility of a record-breaking move for Salah, there remains the possibility of a huge transfer bid being tabled.

Any new offer “will not come close” to the €230m they previously offered for Salah, but any proposal is likely to be substantially higher than the player’s current Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €40.1m.

Several Pro League sides are said to be willing to make bids, with the attacker poised to capture the hearts and minds of local fans.

“The move makes so much sense for Salah now. Beyond the obvious financial appeal, the feeling is that an Arab player would become a huge megastar in an Islamic country, adulation to even dwarf what Cristiano Ronaldo receives,” iPaper states.

There is no indication of what type of price Saudi are currently willing to offer or what Liverpool might demand to sell Salah, but the noise appears unlikely to go away.
