Top source reveals €200m Salah offer as FIVE clubs chase Liverpool legend
According to Saudi transfer insider Ben Jacobs, three Pro League clubs are interested in a January move for Liverpool legend Mohamed Salah, who could earn an eye-watering €200 million per season in the Middle East.
The Egyptian is in the middle of a storm at Liverpool after publicly airing his grievances with the club and head coach Arne Slot following Saturday's 3-3 draw with Leeds.
A substitute for a third consecutive game, Salah claimed that Liverpool had "thrown him under the bus" and that "someone" no longer wants him at the club. He also suggested that the game against Brighton at the weekend could be his last for the Reds.
Liverpool omitted Salah from their travelling party for Tuesday's Champions League clash with Inter, but they refrained from meting out any genuine disciplinary actions.
Club chiefs, including Slot, insist that there is a way back for Salah despite the 33-year-old claiming that his relationship with the coach has broken down.
Salah wanted by three Saudi clubs
However, Salah's insinuation that he could leave Liverpool after returning from the Africa Cup of Nations has piqued the interest of suitors, primarily from Saudi Arabia.
Pro League clubs have been chasing the attacker for years, and there is a feeling that now could be the opportunity to finally secure his signature. Moreover, Salah is unlikely to command as huge a transfer fee as in the years prior, when fees well in excess of €100 million were discussed.
According to Ben Jacobs, three Saudi clubs are ready to pounce should Liverpool indeed make him available in the January transfer window. Riyadh giants Al-Hilal, who tried to do a deal before the Club World Cup, remain keen on Salah.
Additionally, promoted NEOM SC, the football club of the Saudi government's eponymous billion-dollar urban project, and Aramco-owned Al-Qadsiah are chasing a deal for the veteran attacker.
Salah would be brought in to eventually replace Cristiano Ronaldo as the face of the Saudi Pro League, and he would be paid accordingly. Jacobs reports that the Liverpool icon could earn up to €200m annually should he make the move.
As for the Reds, they could still look forward to a sizeable transfer fee despite Salah's diminished value. Liverpool will only consider a sale if the money on offer "significantly surpasses" the €53m Darwin Nunez fetched when he joined Al-Hilal in the summer.
Salah has a close relationship with Pro League director Michael Emenalo, but the report acknowledges that league bosses are cautious about whether he will actually become available. Liverpool's current stance is that they want Salah to complete his contract.
In addition to the interest from the Middle East, Jacobs has also confirmed that MLS franchises San Diego and the Chicago Fire could try to do a deal if given encouragement in January.
The Fire attempted to sign Salah before he extended his Liverpool contract, while San Diego have been described as his most likely US destination by MLS transfer insider Tom Bogert, and not just because they are owned by British-Egyptian businessman Mohamed Mansour.
