Bradley Barcola will remain absent from the Paris Saint-Germain squad while talks continue with Liverpool over a possible deal, according to reports.

French publications RMC Sport and L’Equipe understand PSG do not want to scupper a potential sale by risking an injury to the 23-year-old winger.

Barcola was not included in the PSG squad which suffered a 1-0 reverse to Lens in the French Super Cup on Sunday evening.

He was also an unused substitute in the French heavyweights’ 2-1 victory over Aston Villa in the UEFA Super Cup on 12 August.

Liverpool have made Barcola their top target as they look to strengthen their wide options before the transfer window closes in England on 1 September.

BBC Sport reported in July that the Reds were preparing an opening bid for the France international, who is valued at €170million (£145.3m) by PSG.

While it is unclear whether an official bid was tabled, L’Equipe claims Liverpool are ready to renew their interest in Barcola this week.

Barcola has established himself as one of the best wingers in the world since joining PSG for €45m (£38.4m) in August 2023.

Known for his blistering pace, Barcola has won 12 honours with the Ligue 1 giants including back-to-back Champions League titles in 2025 and 2026.

However, he has struggled to dislodge Desire Doue, Ousmane Dembele and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in PSG’s electric front three.

PSG have also signed wingers Maghnes Akliouche and Mika Godts this summer, adding further competition for a place in Luis Enrique’s starting XI.

Liverpool agree contract with Barcola team-mate Mbaye

Liverpool are also keen on Barcola’s PSG team-mate Ibrahim Mbaye, with RMC Sport claiming a five-year contract has been agreed.

RMC Sport were the first to report that the Merseysiders were considering a move for Mbaye, who is valued at around €40m (£35m).

The 18-year-old emerged through PSG’s youth system in 2024 and has scored four goals in 41 appearances for Luis Enrique’s side.

He has also scored four times in 15 appearances for Senegal, including a stunner in 3-1 group-stage loss to Barcola’s France at the 2026 World Cup.

Unlike the left-sided Barcola, Mbaye primarily operates on the right, meaning he could be considered a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah.

Salah called time on his legendary nine-year spell with Liverpool at the end of last season, and has since joined Trabzonspor on a free transfer.

Liverpool have so far backed new manager Andoni Iraola with the permanent signing of winger Victor Munoz and the loan acquisition of defender Ronald Araujo.

Defender Jeremy Jacquet has also moved to Anfield in a pre-arranged deal that was negotiated before Iraola’s appointment in June.
