West Ham fully committed to mega transfer
West Ham United are ready to dip into the transfer window in January to complete a deal that they hope will reinvigorate Nuno Espirito Santo’s attack.
The Hammers have spent much of this season misfiring in front of goal, although they did manage to record a thrilling 3-2 victory over Burnley in the Premier League on Saturday.
While goals from Callum Wilson, Tomas Soucek and Kyle Walker-Peters gave them maximum points in that clash, they had only netted 10 times in their previous 10 league fixtures.
PSV’s forward-thinking midfielder Ismael Saibari is the player they have earmarked to give them more offensively and help fire them out of relegation trouble.
The 24-year-old has been PSV’s best player this season. The Morocco international has been invaluable for the Eindhoven side on several occasions, including wins over Feyenoord and Fortuna Sittard, not to mention the spectacular 6-2 success over Napoli in the Champions League.
Saibari’s form hasn’t gone unnoticed and West Ham lead a string of clubs hoping to sign.
Plucked from KRC Genk, this has been his first season as an undisputed starter at PSV, despite chipping in 15 goals and 14 assists in 44 appearances last term. But he has since distinguished himself as a standout player, scoring 10 goals in 16 matches this season.
Ismael Saibari can join West Ham United
West Ham are the club more eager to sign Saibari, although there are numerous clubs from Europe’s top leagues tracking the player.
Interest in him has grown considerably this season, AC Milan, Benfica, Olympique Marseille, Aston Villa, Fulham, Brighton & Hove Albion and Leeds United all eyeing him. The Hammers, though, lead the way.
While Espirito Santo’s side might be committed to the deal, the same cannot be said for PSV, who saw Saibari sign a new contract in May 2024. This puts them in an excellent negotiating position.
West Ham will likely have to pay above Saibari’s Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €25.1m to force through any deal, with the player unwilling to push for a move prior to the 2026 World Cup.
