Man Utd Transfer News Today: Baleba deal closer as €80m hijack launched
All the latest Man Utd transfer news in one place, including updates on Carlos Baleba, Karim Adeyemi and Kobbie Mainoo.
Baleba one step closer?
Man Utd influencer Mark Goldbridge believes that Carlos Baleba has moved one step closer to a summer move to the Red Devils after Cameroon missed out on the 2026 World Cup.
Goldbridge argues that the lack of a World Cup distraction will allow Man Utd ample opportunity to strike a deal for Baleba next summer, especially since he was already keen on the switch this year.
The social media personality drew attention to the fact that Man Utd managed to agree a transfer for Matheus Cunha well before this year's summer window opened, and he believes that this feat could be repeated with Baleba.
Adeyemi deal hijacked
Arsenal have barged into the race to sign Borussia Dortmund winger Karim Adeyemi, who has been heavily linked with a move to Man Utd in recent days.
Adeyemi's contract talks with Borussia Dortmund have hit an impasse due to the club's unwillingness to give the player an €80 million release clause. This has resulted in superagent Jorge Mendes offering his client to clubs around England.
Arsenal are said to be leading the race for the explosive winger, although there remains a chance that Adeyemi ends up extending his contract with Dortmund anyway.
Man Utd want Bouaddi in January
Man Utd have made Lille wonderkid Ayyoub Bouaddi one of their priority targets for the January transfer window due to other targets likely being unattainable mid-season.
The 18-year-old has been scouted extensively in recent years, and Man Utd are ready to act on their interest. However, they are far from the only European giants to be interested.
Juventus are also plotting a move for the all-action midfielder as their CEO Damien Comolli wants to make a 'statement signing' for the ailing Old Lady.
Man Utd want €25m for Zirkzee
Man Utd have decided to soften their January stance on wantaway striker Joshua Zirkzee. They are now willing to let him go out on loan in the winter in a bid to allow him to get minutes under his belt and salvage his World Cup dream.
However, they will only sanction an exit if his loan deal includes a purchase option worth at least €25 million. AS Roma have been in talks with the Red Devils over the structure of a potential deal.
However, the Serie A side may struggle to muster the resources to complete this signing after breaching UEFA's spending rules, potentially giving his Premier League suitors an advantage.
Mainoo chased by Ajax
Ajax are the latest big-name club to register their interest in Man Utd midfielder Kobbie Mainoo ahead of the January transfer window. Like Zirkzee, the youngster wants to leave in search of game time ahead of the World Cup.
The Dutch giants are gunning for a loan move as they feel their midfield is woefully inadequate following the summer departure of Liverpool legend Jordan Henderson.
They replaced the veteran with Reds loanee James McConnell, but the youngster has failed to impress, prompting this transfer offensive for Mainoo, who is also being chased by a whole host of other suitors.
Five Man Utd departures
Fabrizio Romano has revealed that five Man Utd players are all but guaranteed to depart Old Trafford permanently in 2026, most of them players that are already out on loan.
Man Utd are confident that Napoli will trigger their purchase obligation for Rasmus Hojlund, while Barcelona are also currently looking to keep Marcus Rashford around. Jadon Sancho will be allowed to leave for free after his Aston Villa loan.
There is no purchase option in Andre Onana's loan at Trabzonspor, but Romano does not believe that the goalkeeper has a future at Old Trafford. Similarly, Tyrell Malacia is expected to leave the club either in January or on a free transfer in the summer.
