Arsenal plot shock move to reunite Timber twins in January transfer raid
Arsenal are ready to reunite Jurrien Timber with his twin brother Quinten, according to a report from a credible outlet.
Quinten is out of contract with Feyenoord in June 2026 and there is no agreement on the horizon. He will, therefore, be able to start negotiations to leave as a free agent in January.
But Arsenal are seeking to beat the competition by making the Rotterdam club a bargain offer for Jurrien’s sibling, CaughtOffside reports.
Mikel Arteta’s side have been regularly linked with additional midfield reinforcements, and it appears that they are ready to take advantage of this market opportunity to secure a comparatively cheap signing.
“Arsenal have been monitoring Timber for some time. He’s been on their radar since they signed Jurrien, but it’s not progressed to any concrete talks yet,” one source said.
It’s not a dilemma that Feyenoord welcome: they can either sell Timber for below his regular value or face losing him for nothing in six months.
Who wants to sign Quinten Timber?
Interest in the 24-year-old is not limited to Arsenal. Feyenoord’s captain from last season is also wanted by Fenerbahce, while more clubs are likely to emerge as contenders to sign him when he becomes available as a free agent.
CaughtOffside indicates that Borussia Dortmund are leading the way for the player, with the Bundesliga side ready to advance on a deal if they get an indication he will leave on the cheap in January.
But the Gunners undoubtedly hold a trump card thanks to Jurrien, who is close to signing an extension with Arteta’s side.
Although both were on the books of Ajax as youngsters, Quinten departed for Utrecht before making it into the senior ranks. The prospect of playing together at the same club for the first time as professionals will rank as an exciting opportunity for both.
Quinten Timber to Arsenal: Expert opinion
Dutch football expert Milan Keskin talked up the possibility of Quentin Timber being a fine signing for Arsenal.
Speaking to FootballTransfers, he said: “Quinten Timber is, when fit, one of the best midfielders in the Eredivisie and would definitely be an asset to clubs in the Premier League. Last season, he was by far Feyenoord’s best player, alongside David Hancko, and the expectation was that he would leave last summer. However, an injury ruined that.
“I think he has enough quality to become a starter at Arsenal. He’s a very physically strong player and simply too good for Feyenoord.”
