Fabrizio Romano Transfer News: Liverpool SHOCK, Ten Hag RETURN, Real Madrid DEAL CLOSE
Fabrizio Romano has provided some massive updates on the biggest transfer stories from around Europe, including the latest on Endrick, Erik ten Hag and Ibrahima Konate.
Ten Hag keen on return - but not with Wolves
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano confirmed that Wolves have held talks with Erik ten Hag, but also revealed that the former Man Utd manager will not replace Vitor Pereira.
"One of the stories around in recent days was about Wolves with Vitor Pereira. The manager was fired a few days ago, so Wolves are looking for a new coach. Gary O'Neill has been in conversations with the Wolves board, but has not reached any agreement despite all the reports.
"Wolves are still looking for a new manager. There might be, from what I understand, some board and management changes at Wolves. So not only the manager, but also some changes in the management. So keep an eye on that because at Wolves, that could be an important part of the story.
"We had stories about Erik ten Hag as an option for the Wolves job. My understanding is that there was a conversation, a contact, to understand the eventual availability of Ten Hag for the Wolves job, but it didn't advance on both the manager and club side.
"At this stage, there is nothing agreed, nothing advanced between Ten Hag and Wolves. Ten Hag would be open to return to work after the shocking Bayer Leverkusen story - fired before the end of the summer transfer window by Leverkusen. A shocking story for Ten Hag, who was not happy at all with the situation.
"He would be ready to return to work, but no agreement with Wolves and at the moment is nothing advanced. So at this stage, I'm not aware of Ten Hag being close to being back in Premier League football."
Endrick deal close
Romano then revealed that Real Madrid striker Endrick is on the verge of sealing his January loan move to Lyon.
"Talks are going very well. Endrick is super keen on a move to Olympique Lyon. The project and the plan have been presented to the player. Endrick is really tempted by this opportunity, and I told you about this connection with Karim Benzema.
"Real Madrid, Olympique Lyon - Benzema is one of the favourite idols of Endrick, so the opportunity to play in two clubs where Benzema played is something fantastic for Endrick. Also, Lyon can guarantee him a starting XI spot as a striker, what Endrick wants.
"He wants to go and play. He believes that playing is important for his development. He can improve. He can get back to Real Madrid as a better player in a few months because it's going to be a straight loan.
"Rumours on Endrick and Man Utd, Endrick and Aston Villa - zero. Zero because Endrick wants to play. He wants to have six months with the opportunity to play, to show his skills, to develop and maybe to have a spot for the World Cup 2026 in Carlo Ancelotti's squad with the Selecao, with Brazil.
"Conversations are very advanced between Endrick and Olympique Lyon. The favourite option for Endrick is Lyon. Despite some calls also from Italy, because some Italian club called over the recent days, Endrick's priority is very clear: he wants to go to Lyon."
"Conversation ongoing about the coverage of the salary and all these kinds of details between Lyon and Real Madrid. My understanding is that the deal is quite advanced, and Endrick will eventually be a Lyon player from the 1st of January. So this is not a deal for the 10th of January, the 20th, end of the market - beginning of January. Immediately get ready and play."
Van Dijk and Konate truths
Lastly, Romano addressed the shocking rumours that Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk was close to joining Real Madrid in the summer.
"There are some stories in Spain about Virgil van Dijk, who wanted to go to Real Madrid on a free transfer last summer. I'm aware that Van Dijk really wanted to stay in Liverpool, and Van Dijk really wanted to be a crucial part of Liverpool's project.
"So if Van Dijk extended his contract at Liverpool, it's because he really trusted the project. He's always been super keen on staying at the club and signing a new deal. It's normal sometimes for agents, when you have a client, a world-class player like Van Dijk, to reach out to clubs and understand situations.
"Don't forget about Ibrahima Konate, who is out of contract in summer 2026, who is on the list of Real Madrid. Konate remains a player on the list of Real Madrid. So if Konate will go on a free next summer, Real Madrid will be very attentive to the situation.
"He's one of the players they are monitoring. On the other side, Liverpool are still talking with his agents. So Liverpool, at this stage, have the opportunity to still talk to the player, but Konate has the opportunity to decide whether he wants to stay at Liverpool or try a new chapter.
"There is a lot of interest in Konate. Real Madrid and not only. On a free, he would be a big opportunity. But this depends on the player. Konate has the opportunity to decide. The interest from Real Madrid is genuine, also because one of the targets they had at was William Saliba, another excellent French defender, but Saliba decided to stay at Arsenal and sign a new contract at the club.
"Real Madrid already had some conversations internally to consider opportunities because they want to strengthen the centre-back position for 2026. David Alaba should leave the club, according to my information. Let's see what happens with Antonio Rudiger, because the Rudiger situation is still open between extending the contract or leaving the club on a free next summer."
