Fabrizio Romano: Man Utd to sign January striker IF…
Manchester United will wait to learn the severity of Benjamin Sesko's knee problem before deciding on signing a striker in January.
That is according to Fabrizio Romano, who reports in his latest YouTube video that United could go into the January transfer market for a new number if Sesko is ruled out for too long.
Sesko was forced off with a knee problem during Man Utd's 2-2 draw with Tottenham on Saturday in London.
Romano reports that he understands that Sesko's injury isn't one that will rule out the attacker for several months or more.
But it is still unclear just how long Sesko will be out for.
Man Utd to sign Sesko replacement?
United are waiting for the full results of all their tests on Sesko before making a decision on whether to sign a replacement in January.
The news on Sesko's injury could also influence whether United give to go-ahead to sell or loan out Joshua Zirkzee in January.
Sesko disappointed once again on Saturday during the 2-2 draw with Tottenham.
It was just the latest poor performance from the Slovenian, who has struggled badly at Old Trafford so far.
There were big hopes for Sesko when Man Utd splashed out as much as €85 million to sign the striker from RB Leipzig.
However, he failed to register a goal or assist in his first six games for Man Utd.
It appeared that maybe the tide would turn when he scored back-to-back against Brentford and Sunderland at the end of September and start of October.
But Sesko has since failed to score, managing no goals in his last four matches for United.
In total this season, for club and country, Sesko has a very disappointing two goals and two assists in 16 matches.
Sesko emerged as one of Europe's most admired young strikers at Leipzig.
Sesko scored 18 goals in 42 games for his club in 2024-25 and went to Euro 2024 with Slovenia.
He has 16 goals in 45 games for Slovenia.
