Newcastle make Eddie Howe sack decision
Newcastle United reportedly have no intention of sacking Eddie Howe, despite their underwhelming start to the 2025-26 season.
The Magpies are only two points clear of the Premier League relegation zone after 11 matches, having won just three games in the English top flight so far this term, and rumours have speculated that Howe could soon come under pressure following their 3-1 loss to Brentford on Sunday.
The 47-year-old has enjoyed a hugely successful stint at St James’ Park, following his arrival as Steve Bruce’s replacement in November 2021, but the club’s recent form is a concern.
However, the Newcastle hierarchy plan to give Howe plenty of time to turn results around.
That is according to Chronicle Live, who state that Newcastle owners PIF firmly believe that Howe is still the right man to lead the project at St James’ Park. It’s understood that it would take “something drastic” for Howe to be sacked.
What has Eddie Howe said?
Speaking to Sky Sports after the defeat to Brentford on Sunday, Howe admitted: “Desperately disappointing result. It was always going to be a difficult game today. We dealt with the physical challenge really well in the first half and then the goals came at very bad times for us.
“It is a disappointing performance and result and we have to take that on the chin. There is no excuse for it.
“The analysis will take place and it is going to be a long international break. We need to find a solution to the away form and we need to stick together. We still feel the love and support of the supporters. This group has got the character to come back.
“We are missing a few things. We will look at it in depth and try and find a passage. We can't keep doing the same thing and expect a different result.”
The Newcastle boss added (via Chronicle Live): “We know it’s not good enough and I take full responsibility for that and if we want to get that right it starts now. That’s all that I can do at this moment.”
