Chelsea in talks over FIRST January signing
Chelsea are in talks with Marseille striker Robinio Vaz as they look to finalise an agreement to sign him during the upcoming January transfer window.
The Blues have targeted the best young players across world football since the arrival of Clearlake Capital as their new owners in 2022 and Vaz has reportedly emerged as their latest transfer target.
The 18-year-old has scored four goals and provided two assists in 12 Ligue 1 matches for Marseille so far this season, and his form has attracted the attention of several top clubs across Europe.
Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Napoli are all keeping tabs on his development under Marseille boss Roberto De Zerbi, however Chelsea are currently the frontrunners in the race for his signature.
That is according to a report from AfricaFoot, who claim that Enzo Maresca’s side plan to sign Vaz in January.
The five-time Premier League champions have reportedly made “preliminary contact” with his representatives, while they are also in talks with Marseille as they look to finalise a deal to bring the France U20 international to Stamford Bridge in 2026.
However, Marseille are determined to retain Vaz’s services and they are set to offer him a new long-term contract in order to ward off increasing interest from across world football.
Robinio Vaz to join Chelsea?
Vaz, who boasts an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of just €6.3 million, signed fresh terms at Marseille in April, but he could soon receive a new offer from the Ligue 1 outfit as they look to extend his current contract, which is due to expire in 2028.
Vaz is the latest striker to be linked with a move to Chelsea in recent weeks, with the Blues also reportedly monitoring the progress of Julian Alvarez, Samu Aghehowa, Joaquin Panichelli and several others ahead of 2026.
Furthermore, the west London side have already finalised deals for Emanuel Emegha and Dastan Satpaev to join the club next year, while Joao Pedro, Liam Delap, Marc Guiu and academy starlet Shumaira Mheuka all remain at Stamford Bridge.
